Re: Really WSYM? This is News?
Their newscasts are very impersonal and amateurish. No anchors? Weather done from Grand Rapids? How are they going to cover breaking news and breaking weather as it happens? For local news, you need to spend money in order to make money.

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
WLNS will no longer be the only station with a noon news. But they are probably not concerned. Their news is between 2 popular shows, The Price is Right and The Young and the Restless.

Re: Fred Heumann is back, on WILX...
The record for longevity in Lansing TV has to go to the 2 Tims...Staudt and Skubick. Both started in TV right around 1970.

Congrats to Fred on the new gig. He can take over once Tim retires. Many in the market have worked for both 6 and 10.

He will land on his feet. He's a smart guy and a hard worker. There may have been things happening behind-the-scenes that people don't know about.

Re: Why isn't WDIV airing Jimmy Fallon?
I wonder if all NBC stations air The Tonight Show at midnight or if it is fed at 11:35 and WDIV does a tape delay?

The CBS weekend news for this weekend is originating from the Indianapolis CBS affiliate. Each weekend it is broadcast from a different CBS affiliate.

Re: Former WEYIer anchoring CBS Evening News
The weekend newscasts for CBS are not always from the Washington DC affiliate. They rotate among different CBS affiliates. This weekend it was from Seattle. I have also seen it originate from Dallas, Denver and other major markets. I think it's a nice idea and it also gives local anchors some nation...

Re: Listeners are abandoning local radio in droves in the Lansing market
The 1990s were a great period for country, with stars like Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Sammy Kershaw, Joe Diffie, Garth Brooks, etc. Today's country sounds awful in comparison. Current country is just pop music with a fiddle or a steel guitar added, then it is branded as country. Unlike when it firs...

Re: Listeners are abandoning local radio in droves in the Lansing market
You mentioned WVFN. They are one of the rare stations in this day and age that understands how to do LOCAL radio. They have many hours of sports talk radio with local hosts that people know (Tim Staudt, Mad Dog Demarco and Will Tieman). They take phone calls from listeners (what a concept). They cov...

Antenna TV is my favorite since they have the best shows, such as Johnny Carson, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Barney Miller, Welcome Back Kotter, etc.
