Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

Doesn't TV-6 have a digital translator on RF 14 to serve the Marquette area? Which station is worse in the Marquette area when it comes to over-the-air reception, WLUC or WBUP? They do. They switched from analog 7 to digital 14 and increased the power. Funny thing is in my location in Negaunee Twp....

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

11/19/2015, to be precise. It's about time. I wonder how many full-power commercial VHF allocations are vacant east of the Mississippi. There can't be many. Time for WLUC to consider moving its RF signal from 35 to 8. With the latest TV reallocation potentially eliminating everything above RF 36, W...

Re: 1240 WIAN Ishpeming, MI

Called station this morning. Receptionist knew radio! 1240 WIAN is off! Waiting for transmitter part and will get station up and running ASAP! Many people calling concerning this, so AM isn't dead yet! I am surprised at this point that they haven't tried to go FM, or at least consolidate 1240 and 1...

Re: 1240 WIAN Ishpeming, MI

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be doing, but every time I've scanned through it hasn't been there (day or night).

Anybody know where it is? Haven't heard it on the air in a while.

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

http://www.northpine.com/broadcast/mi/radio.html shows it's owned by Great Lakes Radio. Used to be a translator for WPFF. Transaction in Dec 2014. I'm thinking when WPFF went to Air1/KLove, this didn't. That makes sense. We had two WPFF translators around here (99.9 and 106.1.) What do you know, th...

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

Doesn't Esky already have a religious translator on that frequency...if memory serves?

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

Good question...and is it related to Marquette's Good Time Oldies - 97.5 GTO?

Re: Mini DXpedition

I think it was WRNO. It was definitely on the shortwave band.

Re: Mini DXpedition

It is quite a shame that shortwave isn't what it used to be. It feels like everything is religious broadcasters now...like we can't get an overdose of that on AM/FM radio today. My first memory of shortwave radio was probably late 80s as a teen I bought a Sony ICF-SW20 pocket-sized analog shortwave ...

Re: 92.7 WRUP

92.7 is actually secondary to 98.3 in Marquette. So if you are in and around Marquette you can keep enjoying it on 98.3.

Re: UP Sports Radio

They should fix 93.3 by changing their frequency. 93.1 from Iron Mountain is stronger in Ishpeming and causes interference with it on some radios.

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

So how many HD radios are in the UP? 3? ;) Also, do 1400 WQXO and 1490 WTIQ compete in any way (as a second market, meaning Munising-Manistique?) Better yet, how many people have them but don't know it? Some car manufacturers have HD radio built-in, but there is always that bunch of people that onl...

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

Another thing to note for those with HD radios. 101.9 WKQS sounds like they are in a testing phase. I was trying to listen to the Miners/Hematites game Friday night and noticed my radio was showing an HD1, HD2, and HD3. HD2 was 105.1 and HD3 was 97.5. Reception was very spotty.

New Marquette radio stations....

I don't know when this happened since I listen to XM radio all the time. There are a few new Marquette area radio stations lately. I noticed a new 97.5 in Marquette called "Good Time Oldies" or GTO. The 105.1 that was a translator of 88.3 is now running a higher power with a Fox Sports format. The o...
