Smith-Groen Lumber at 2850 S. Division was known as Erb Lumber during my youth. That stretch of S. Division is loaded with Latino businesses these days, including that very same property. Plenty of taco stands to be had (literally). Are there still used car lots galore, or are those largely gone no...

One prediction is that WJMN adds ABC and CW to its subchannel lineup.

Re: Seattle gets two new country music stations on the same day!!! (No joke.)

98.9 was under a 1 share in Seattle (not good for a full Class C signal) and was getting beat by noncom AAA stations with weaker signals.

With TV 20 picking up games, areas outside of Detroit get screwed out of those games

WQON is underpowered for a C1 at 60kW with a HAAT of 131 meters. I'm surprised nobody over the last 20 years or so has attempted to get them up to 100kW: https://fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=2308 ... 3ebeb7&i=2

Thanks for the info.

It's interesting that 89.9 is still being run as its own brand.
89.9/107.9 have apparently shifted to a praise and worship format: https://www.promisefm.com/promiseblog/b ... -new-thing

Re: WCMU Transmitter Building Fire

Maybe CMU should rent WFDX: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/265911/fcc-report-3-10-six-new-allocations-granted-in-hawaii/ (scroll down) It wouldn't be the first time a public radio station has rented one of Northern Broadcasting's former stations! A few years back, WIAA aired on 105.5 WSRJ for a...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs

Comcast dropped WCMU in Flint despite WCMU still being assigned to the Flint/Tri-Cities market. However, both dishes and Spectrum still carry WCMU in the entire Flint DMA. In fact, WCMU is still carried on Spectrum systems in northern Oakland County and Lapeer County. Speaking of WCMU, I'm a little ...

95.9 covers much more coverage area than 1400/1370. Heck, 95.9 may have the best coverage of northern Michigan outside of the 100kW stations! Even though the two high-band AM stations are basically useless, those translators could be quite useful. I'm surprised how decently NewsTalk 580 has done in ...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs

Ludington and Manistee may have had WVTV in the late 70s, prior to WTBS/WGN (neither Ludington nor Manistee ever had WKBD). Several years ago, I was doing some microfilm searches at the Manistee library and apparently Manistee had WTCG on cable as early as January 1978 (it first appeared on the sate...

Good to hear; thanks for the info.

13 definitely devotes more resources to that part of the DMA than I can remember in decades.
Kind of sad to see a station that for its first 30 or so years on the air didn't cover the I-94 corridor at all do better than the Kalamazoo-based station!

I'm a little surprised that WCMW-FM doesn't either have a direct link to WCMU Radio HQ.

How does WCMZ in the Sault pick up CMU Public Radio programming? Also, does WCMV or WCMZ have a usable signal in Harbor Springs?

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs

Global was not carried in the Free Press TV listings in the '80s, although CKCO 42 was. IIRC, it had a similar footprint in Michigan both OTA and cable. CHBX 2 (still in analog) has never been on cable in the Michigan Sault (although it was at one time carried in Newberry and Rogers City). CJIC 5 (...
