Re: Roy H Selling Off?

What station did he own in Escanaba? During his last Northern Michigan docket proposal (which would have moved 99.3 [then WOUF] to the Kalkaska tower used by WPBN/WGTU/WCMV, with WATZ moving to 101.5, WMJZ moving to 97.1, and a few new drop-ins on 99.1 (Alpena and Au Gres) and 99.5 (Shelby)), WGLQ w...

Re: Random political predictions for 2020

This presidential election can go one of many different ways. 1. The map doesn't change much if at all from 2016 2. Biden wins in a landslide (flipping most of the swing states and maybe even flipping Ohio and Texas) 3. A 269-269 tie (which is possible if Biden flips AZ, MI, and WI and Trump holds o...

From Manistee, MI (assuming all stations are on the air at full licensed power, italicized stations are currently off, not all of these can be received 100% of the time but these are the most common on each frequency): 88.1 - WHID Green Bay, WI 88.3 - WSMZ Crystal Valley, MI or WTCY Greilickville, M...

He also has a place at the Crystal Downs Club (at least he used to). He lives in Flower Mound Texas too. In case we all forgot, most of the money comes from his wife. He sold some stations in Texas back in the 90s for millions after moving them closer to major cities (92.1 in Houston/Galveston and ...

$2 million is a lot for a stick that doesn't cover a lot of people. KTWL is a Class C3 located between Houston and Bryan/College Station. Its 60dBu includes the smallish cities of Hempstead and Navasota, as well as the far northwest suburbs of Houston (Magnolia, Lake Conroe, Montgomery). There's a t...

Synergy is a mess

Synergy Media currently has one station completely off the air and another on very low power: 97.7 WMLQ is completely off and has been off since early May. STA filing: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/cdbsmenu.hts?context=25&appn=101817895&formid=910&fac_num=39787 94.9 W...

Re: North Goes South?

If the market wasn't so big (and if the Petoskey/Gaylord area were a separate market for ownership caps), 92.3, 99.3, and 101.9 likely would have been split with one going to each of Midwestern, Macdonald-Garber, and Black Diamond. The only thing that would make sense with the Bear Lake license woul...

Re: Michigan isn't a hot spot

New cases are up 77% in Arizona, 75% in Michigan, 70% in Texas and 66% in Florida. Of course anyone can make things look bad with stats but here is the bigger picture: https://www.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/index.html#cases AZ, TX, and FL, as well as CA, are all in the thousands per day. Michigan h...

Today while driving in to ludington from Fountain /Freesoil area Lubbock Texas was booming in on my car radio. Was listening to kmmx 100.3
I would've gotten it (along with several other TX panhandle stations) if I weren't in Grand Rapids, which has a boat load of translators and IBOC

Re: 2020 Presidential Polls

I could see a lot of scenarios for the electoral college. There's a plausible 269-269 scenario (which involves Biden flipping AZ, MI, and WI only; Trump keeps PA, NC, FL, GA, OH, and TX) while I could also see a scenario in which Biden gets over 400 electoral votes (Biden would have to win all of th...

Picked up 95.7 KEZJ from Twin Falls, ID on Thursday night with "Taste of Country Nights". Over 1,400 miles! I also picked up a few Idaho Falls/Pocatello stations at around 1,300 miles (89.5 KLRI, 93.9 KZBQ, 96.1 KWFI, 97.3 KLCE)

Re: Major changes in May 2020 Nielsen Audio #'s - Grand Rapids

Unusual to see puny WFGR leading the Townsquare group. Has that ever happened before? Flipping 94.5 to Alternative was a good move IMHO. The combined shares for WKLQ and WTNR are higher than what WTNR and WBBL combined for before Thunder came back on 107.3. Which iHeart station will flip first, 96.1...
