Re: 99.3 WQAN Signal Strength

Heard 100.1 on the air yesterday weaker than 92.3 and 99.3 with a simulcast of Q100 (at one point yesterday, I was able to get Q100 on 99.3, 100.1, and 100.3). Neither of the three appear to be full strength, but their terrain advantage (the Forrester Road site is about 300 feet above Crystal Lake) ...

93.9 doubled its ratings in its first book with the Rock format compared to its last CHR book: https://radioinsight.com/ratings/indianapolis/

Chicago over Suring on 102.7?

Fun fact: WVAZ is one of very few full power Chicago's I've never heard here (I've even gotten WKSC over WTCM a couple of times!)

Clare is part of Flint/Saginaw/Bay City DMA as far as I know. I always thought the technical boundary was M-55.
Clare has gone back and forth, but has settled in the Traverse City/Cadillac DMA in recent years (in no small part due to 9&10's stick being in neighboring Osceola County)

Re: Old county weather maps

I wonder if the Green Bay stations ever included Manistee and Mason counties on their weather maps. Outside of its DMA, it appears WJRT still includes Clare, Roscommon, Alcona, Sanilac, Livingston, and Oakland counties. I would also imagine Clinton, Ingham, Eaton, St. Clair, Oscoda, and Alpena count...

Re: WLAV Tower Relocation

Well, just to go off on another tangent, I was not surprised when I researched the Fountain Street Church and found it had similar origins to Woodside Church in Flint. Both had been Baptist Churches, and are now socially active Nondenominational churches. Woodside had a lot of recitals and concerts...

Re: Wyandotte Cable retires scrolling TV listings

Buckeye, AFAIK, carries a scrolling guide with local ads on the top half (channel 20 in Sandusky, channel 56 in Toledo, channel 70 in Bedford). Pop is carried in full on channel 205

Re: Why is Sanilac part of the Detroit DMA?

Even to this day, I think Genesee and Lenawee counties are included in weather maps for the Detroit stations. The Comcast lineup for Sandusky (which is an utter joke for a community of its size) doesn't carry a PBS member at all according to Zap2it. It also doesn't carry CBS 62 (WNEM is carried, alo...

Interesting conditions last night and this morning

Last night and this morning, I had some strong tropo into central and eastern Wisconsin. The following were heard (besides the typical GB/Appleton/Door County stations): 88.5 WGNV Milladore (100kW) 88.9 WVRN Wittenberg (25kW) 89.5 WCLQ Wausau (90kW, around WPNE IBOC) 90.9 WHRM Wausau (81kW) 92.3 WJM...

Re: 7&4 in 1980

Cheboygan's was B&C way back in the day before Glen's. I went to camp near Cheyboygan almost 40 years ago. I heard that the B & C stood for Beat Em and Cheat EM. I have a feeling that I might not get an answer to this but here goes. Does anyone remember a station in the Cheyboygan area showing Gill...

Talk about bang for the watts...

90.7 – WNMC Traverse City (600W @ 45 mi)
Elevation (WNMC's stick is 538 feet above average terrain) and an empty frequency does wonders.

Also forgot one station:
104.1 - WVGR Grand Rapids (96kW @ 105 mi)

I really like 105.9 WNKN out of Cincinnati/Dayton. When I was in the Kings Island area last week, I listened to it from Dayton to Kings Island and then to just outside of Columbus.

Re: Worst Tower Sites For Getting Stuck-Water, Mud, Sand, Snow, Ice, Grade, etc.

Looking at Google Earth, the Gaylord Eagle 101.5's site appears to be a tough one to get to as it's a half mile two track off a gravel road. Assuming the WQON/WGRY site hasn't moved since the 1990s, the road going past it is paved and has houses well below the tower site. The WKZC site requires goin...
