Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting
In reality, Finster was their engine in this market, Can't say for sure, but from all the little tibits I've heard,it strongly sounds like Finster was fired by Blarney Stone. Just a random thought from a guy who is not in the radio biz, Would it be feasible or make sense for Smile FM to purchase the...

Re: WOMC HD WYCD HD
102.9 WWWW has now added HD. The HD2 is a simulcast of 1050 WTKA. I noticed this on Friday (3/24) evening when driving through Ann Arbor. I wonder when they turned it on. Speaking of turning on HD, both 102.3 and 106.5 in the Toledo area have turned on HD within the past few months (with 106.5 havi...

Re: Something brewing in Chicago?
If this happens in Chicago, could we see a three-way call sign change?
96.3 (currently WBBM-FM) becomes WBMX-FM (while keeping the B96 name with a format shift)
104.3 (currently WBMX-FM) becomes WSCR-FM (new simulcast of 670)
105.9 (currently WCFS-FM) becomes WBBM-FM (keeps simulcast of 780)

Re: T-Town radio predictions 2023
Strong Tower Radio purchase's the 103.3 Translator from Fusion. Don't know how I came up with this but I'll throw it in the mix. The only thing crazier would be WMTR buying the 103.3 translator, leasing an HD subchannel, and running a simulcast of 96.1 (including the Tigers) on it (both the leased ...

Re: Another victim of Clownsquare budget cuts...
Sounds like Clownsquare is ruining the Grand Rapids cluster, just like they've done with Flint. Isn't Grand Rapids their largest market? I think I remember seeing somewhere that GR is their largest market and now they only have a handful of local jocks outside of FB&HW in a cluster with four full-p...

Re: Bear Lake Allotment Reinstated
Depending on where the full power site would be located. If it were located near Bear Lake (or roughly anywhere west of US-31), the translator could stay.

Re: WOMC HD WYCD HD
I know WGVU had HD2 (oldies) and HD3 (jazz), but they're down to HD1 only. I'm surprised they're still HD (WGVS-FM has never run HD AFAIK)MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:46 amI thought they did once upon a time. I want to say it aired BBC World News, but I could be wrong.Did WUOM ever have an HD2?

Re: City of Grand Haven evicts WGHN-FM from tower due to lease violations
93.1 is back on the air with Strong Tower now. I'm not sure what day they appeared on the air once again as I haven't paid very close attention - as a DXer, there is little reason to tune in until April - but it was certainly turned on quite recently. The signal is poor, much like WGHN, but is wors...

Re: WOMC HD WYCD HD
May have spoken too soon about WITL. Its HD is now off and the 95.3 and 95.9 translators are silent. Good for Townsquare. Two fewer Jesus music drones with zero local content to clog up the dial. What I think is really a waste of electricity is using HD on a spoken word format like WUOM (which has ...

Re: WOMC HD WYCD HD
If the side channels can be used to feed an analog FM translator that can be self-sufficient from a revenue standpoint, fine. If they can be used to simulcast an AM sister station, fine. These moves should've happened much sooner, in all honesty. Or to fill in holes in a sister FM's coverage area (...

Re: Coming to 106 KHQ
Midwestern Broadcasting is probably the gold standard for loyalty to talent. In more cases than not, it has lent for a greater advertiser loyalty. Especially at WTCM-FM, as Mike Sinclair and Carey Carlson have both been there for close to 20 years. Jack O'Malley was there for over 30 years before h...

Re: Old soundchecks and TV commercials for West MI radio stations
I find it hard to believe that 102.9 WFUR at one point had more listeners than 93.7!
Also on page 171, the Flint ratings are shown. 102.5 went from an also-ran to dominant #1 in a year!

Then there are the 104.7s in Columbia, SC (WNOK) and Charlotte, NC (WKQC). Both are heavily directional but do run 100,000 watts in the direction away from each other.
There do appear to be some hills between Baltimore and York.

Re: Star Country is making an impact; WTCM-FM and Big Country both take a hit
Ouch for Big Country! Just since spring 2021, they've dropped over half of their shares, which is somewhat remarkable as the market boundary change should have helped them out on paper (by taking out some very strong WTCM counties)
