Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

If the license ends up getting cancelled, I think at least one station will apply to move to 101.9. I wonder if we could see something like what happened with another operator (Cochise Broadcasting) that had multiple stations silent for long periods of time. As part of a deal, Cochise voluntarily t...

Re: RIP 89X

Why the hell did we go from 1 country station to 4? How can Detroit sustain them all? I don't get these moves. More 94 was Country. Wrong again. More 94 was the rehashed "CKLW" and Oldies/Classic Hits. Eventually, they dropped More 94, and the jocks just called it "CK". Tom Shannon, and Dave Prince...

Re: RIP 89X

Never would I have thought that 580'S oldies format was going to outlive 89X and 93.9 the River. Being an old fogey, I am delighted 580 survives. It's a breath of fresh air in the foul wind of stale corporate radio. As for the two plug-n-play FM's, they will never amount to much. Good luck selling ...

It was way before your time, but it's not the first time we've had 4 country stations in the market.

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

It's hardly a secret that "alternative" is David Field's favorite format. This directive undoubtedly came down from the top, coupled with, I am sure, budgetary shenanigans.

Re: Michigan going BACK INTO LOCKDOWN

I honestly get tired of business owners whining. Some people just weren't cut out for that type of work and should go get a job somewhere else. I've told customers to their face that very thing and it's just kind of a reality of business ownership. Restaurants are going to close and a franchise who...

Re: WLDR Renewal Applications

Even worse is that he owned the tower site and lost it to a tax foreclosure a few years ago. He was going to be evicted but something was worked out. I sincerely don't think anyone is managing his properties. That is precisely what I was referring to, not the latest snafu. How many "red notices" wo...

Dammit, there goes my plans for a music format station on 1520

Losing WLDR's tower site has to be the most boneheaded thing Roy has done so far. That giant blunder basically spells out "Game Over" :lol

Re: Former WLAV & WKLQ PD Dead From Covid 19

I’ll agree on one thing here - his initial programming of Buzz 95 was awesome! Great sounding station! When they became “Buzz Rock 95” and added classic rock acts like Led Zeppelin, they went downhill fast.... Darrin had some solid ideas early on. Buzz 95 was certainly a good example. I often wonde...

Re: WLCO is back

I had to run to Lake Orion yesterday, and I was certain WLCO had flipped to Sports, as ESPN 1530. To my surprise, I was hearing 1530 in Cincinnati, like a LOCAL signal, around 11:00 AM! When I left around 1:00 PM, WCKY was gone, and WLCO was there. This is definitely outside of CH, so I was surprise...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

Will Wheelz finally put Screamin Scott Randall in morn. drive???? Maybe his no compete is finally up from Beasley. Idk, man. When I think Screamin' Scott, I don't think Queen and Journey. But that's just me. Bring in Screamin', tweak the playlist to mirror Turbo on Sirius XM, and leave the CSX stuf...

Did he also do that "Sketches and Comments of the Great Lakes" feature?
No, that was Oscar Frenette. Dick Purtan's show did hilarious parodies of Oscar.

Why don’t we blame the clowns that sued to have this overturned? She was stopping it until then.
:lol :lol :lol
Stopping it? Whitmer couldn't even stop a runaway shopping cart. The best job for Whitmer would be in the public defenders office. :lol
