Re: More Translators coming soon to a radio near you

With the translators, IBOC sidebands, and Canadian drop ins, you have to have a very good directional antenna and receiver. Its getting to remind me of the old days of CB radio, people with linears whistling into the microphone, and Central American CBers with linears and reverb exhorting in Spanish...

Re: 1260 Zeeland Transmitter site burns

Can anyone find a link on this? I can't find a single story on google about the arsonists being caught. If they are under 18, it may explain why there is not more information.

Re: Portable Chargers For Cell Phones, Tablets, and Laptops

This is a strange question for an engineering and DXing category. That's because engineers are engineers and tend to know the answer to these types of questions. The radio engineers I know fix cars, airplanes, and just about any type of electrical, electronic, or mechanical device. Maybe not...

Portable Chargers For Cell Phones, Tablets, and Laptops

Is there a single universal high capacity portable charger that will charge Apple Smart Phones, Androids, MacBooks, and PC Laptops? Making coffee and toast is optional. :)

Re: What does Detroit Need?

Back-up systems have been taken into consideration more so now with new infrastructure. Your cell service now is as reliable as your wall phone was back in the 70s With one BIG difference. You NEVER lost your wall phone. I spend so much time looking for my portable landline phones and cell phones a...

Re: If CBC Sold 89.9 FM

It would only make sense if a private entity were to be allowed to emulate the RKO General CKLW Era, and the Canadian Government would not let that happen. I sat over there in the basement in Novi, and all the old CKLW people were saying that was the only way that the unregulated, unmitigated succes...

Re: WOMC NOT going wall-to-wall Christmas this year

Remember where you heard it first. Looking over the Nielsen Ratings, and what was happening with 98.7 changing formats, we figured it out a couple of weeks ago.

WDZR or WZRC-FM
Interesting story that recalls the era of WZRC, WDLZ, WKTA, and WDZR.

Re: WOMC NOT going wall-to-wall Christmas this year

GREAT News, as far as I'm concerned! JJ announced this afternoon that WOMC will be "salt and peppering" Christmas songs in its playlist between now and Christmas eve. This is exactly what I've been advocating for them to do for the past few years. They will NOT beat WNIC in the ratings if they do w...

Re: New Oldies Format Station in Chicago

Yes, to the managers, attorneys, and accountants, Competition=Interference. Interference to that all important 0.1 ratings point drop that a "move in" might cause, because the major market owners and their centralized programming and music are slow or stuck to respond to audience preferences. That i...

Re: New Oldies Format Station in Chicago

No,not on FM if it did we would have one and your right advertisers for some reason don’t care for us older people I personally don’t get that one myself. Now I would love a Traditional Oldies station (1955-1974) on FM but it will never happen again. Well, they did do it with WRME-LP 87.75 in Chicag...

By the way, K. M. Richards commented that Paul Harvey would not be heard on any of the ABC owned FM stations. But he was on WLAV-FM, another of the original ABC FM Network Love stations, and he was extemely popular there.

Re: Noise Cancelling Headphones

Osculating issues? Did your spellcheck change that? I am having a big problem with the spellcheckers now, as the people who program them don't know much about technical terms. Making sense out of nonsense may make sense with texting, but not for decent typists on a real keyboard with years of experi...

Someone has done an extensive paper on this. I'll find the link again.

Here is one.

Seems like there are more exhaustive papers also.
