Re: 2019 Detroit Lions

I think it's fair to say the Lions didn't win the game, the Chargers lost it. :hat If their punter wasn't kicking field goals and they didn't cough it up at the goal line, truly Lionesque endeavors, it would be a different story. I'm wondering if teams will now be targeting "Big Play" Slay in coming...

Re: This is great reporting by the Detroit Free Press

Hopefully no one here owns Ford stock. I have a feeling Q3 and Q4 earnings are going to be a disaster. Ford's common stock price is buoyed by an oversized dividend which is apparently sufficiently covered by quarterly cash flow; it helps keep the Ford family well-heeled and long-term income-oriente...

Re: Best Use of Cowbell in a Song

I hate to sound like a fanboy (which I am!), but:

"Power Failure" - Procol Harum, off the album Broken Barricades
"Bringing Home the Bacon" - Procol Harum, off the album Grand Hotel
"The Unquiet Zone" - Procol Harum, off the album Procol's Ninth

Re: Most Dangerous Roundabouts In Michigan

I remember the very first time I was confronted with a roundabout, a complete and utter surprise at the time. I saw signage I couldn't properly interpret. Once in the roundabout, the road markings leading in multiple directions confused the hell outta me! I figured I could swerve across in front of ...

Re: Fred McLeod dies

Goodness. I always liked his Pistons play-by-play. It was good seeing him on the Lions' preseason games, though I wouldn't have recognized the voice.

Re: Best Use of Cowbell in a Song

Another good one, "Time Has Come Today" - The Chambers Brothers
(I linked the long version)

I'm thinking cowbell was mainly used as a "natural" sound effect here, much like "Grazing in the Grass", as well as a rhythm instrument.

Re: 2019 Detroit Tigers

I’m still not sold on JaCoby Jones. He’s a fourth outfielder until he has longer stretches of production. Victor Reyes has more potential in my eyes. No less an authority than Al Kaline has stated flatly that Jones is the best outfielder in the organization, bar none! I think he's shown as much, sm...

Re: Only the Lions

And speaking of ultra-conservative, I look further back to when they were up 24-9 and then 24-16. On both of those drives, they run on 1st, run on 2nd, pass on 3rd, and punt. Gee, if that isn't predictable. The play-action passes were fairly successful through most of the game, why abandon that? Oh...

Re: 2019 Detroit Tigers

I still think Harold Castro grades out as a utility player. He reminds me a lot of Frank Catalanotto from the Randy Smith era in the type of player he is. "Cat" had a pretty decent career, mostly with Texas and Toronto. Rogers never could [hit] for average in Toledo. He was prematurely brought up. ...

Re: Only the Lions

I feel like (sc)UM fans must feel after ekeing out a win against Army at home...but at least you have a W on the record. How they managed to give the Cardinals late-game life should be Chapter One of the coaches manual Don't Let This Happen To You . >: Dick Stockton late in the fourth kept saying, "...
