Re: 98.7 The Breeze on air line-up

Stations know from PPM when listeners are punching out. You can watch it. We've known it for many years before PPM. The goal is always to keep them listening longer and/or coming back often. Good personalities, interesting topics, features, great music keep them listening longer or coming back. But ...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze just ruined itself

I have not heard of a local PD yet for The Breeze. I believe it's corporate and maybe Slacker just working the computer at this point if he's still in the building. Benny and the Jets by Elton John was a big Detroit hit - I believe it broke here first... if memory serves WJLB was playing the album c...

Re: WPAG 98.7 Ann Arbor & WCAR 99.5 Pontiac

From Wikipedia page on WYCD - older use of 99.5 "WABX was preceded on the 99.5 frequency in southeast Michigan by WCAR-FM in Pontiac, Michigan, the FM side of WCAR (now WDFN), in 1948. In 1956, WCAR moved from Pontiac to Detroit; the FM signal was dropped, leaving 99.5 FM open in Detroit. (In 1964, ...

Re: WOMC adding 90s music

They aren't hearing the songs they want to hear is why, and possibly a lack of chart knowledge.

Re: WOMC adding 90s music

I never understood how programmers/consultants decided that the only audience for a certain period of music was the ones who grew up with it. What about music enjoyed as oldies? (e.g. I enjoyed WOMCs 50s/60s oldies that they played in the early 1990s). I would think that music from 1972, for exampl...

Karen Savelly doesn't sound raspy at all. KT always sounded like she smoked.

Re: WOMC adding 90s music

I figure they are going for the "at work" crowd. I remember talking to other Oldies radio people years ago and they were all trying to figure out how to get younger, but still keep a good part of the core audience. It's easier when the older audiences fall out of the target demo. Then you just drop ...

Re: Then, there's this.....

The mixing bowl is in Southfield as often heard from Bill Szumanski and Lance Howard in the helicopter - 696/M-10/Telegraph, etc. Bill Szumanski sometimes on-the-air calls the 275/96/696/M-5 interchange spaghetticoat junction. They've been doing traffic for ages.

Re: Then, there's this.....

Looks like they are running an ad to "fill" the position... http://www.clickondetroit.com/station/part-time-traffic-reporter/34978180 you know EOE. If it's sponsored, they are keeping it I would think. Sam Bernstein is running what appears to be the only main local ads on their traffic page. Is he a...
