Re: Breaking: Nexstar reaches agreement to purchase Tribune

Even in the very early CATV days? I know Whitehall had WVTV from Milwaukee until 2006 (it only lasted that long due to GR not having a full-time WB affiliate and CW7 ended up taking WVTV's cable slot) I mean, i was a small child in the '80s, so my memory for that time period isn't that great. There...

With WOTV occupying cable 9 in Muskegon and Fremont, I wonder if it replaced WWTV on one or both of those systems.
Muskegon cable has never carried any adjacent-market stations.

Re: Breaking: Nexstar reaches agreement to purchase Tribune

Was there a point in time in which WOTV wasn't carried in Muskegon? Until about ten years ago, WZZM wasn't carried in Battle Creek or Three Rivers WOTV was carried on Muskegon cable in the 1980s when it was still WUHQ. I don't recall exactly when it was dropped other than it was sometimes in the la...

Re: WYCE Recorded Shows?

It's entirely possible that some of the volunteer programmers at WYCE record their air shifts in advance rather than being live on-air, and it's entirely possible that if someone who had a live shift was unable to make it to the station that they chose to run a recorded show early.

Re: New Years Countdown Programs Sucked Balls

Bit of trivia, the ball drop was initially conceived by the owner of the NYT in 1907. I think the main reason why it's still the biggest New Year's celebration in the US is because it's the oldest.

Re: 24 Hour News 8 graphics update

What impresses me is that they've had the same basic logo for almost 20 years now and it doesn't look the slightest bit dated.

Re: Bet there wasn't a dry eye at 13 WZZM when this news arr

To this day, I cannot stand their public access quality news set . Who was the imbecile who made that move??? I mean - a plain gray wall adorned with nothing more than three flat panel monitors??? You've gotta be kidding me. What other top 50 market station spends SO LITTLE on visual eye candy? WZZ...

Re: Lee Van Ameyde Gone

I grew up watching Lee deliver the news, but his on-air delivery over the last few years seemed increasingly tired (the few times I'd catch a newscast on 13, it sounded like his voice was weak/worn out compared to several years prior). Putting him on the Watchdog team seemed like a demotion more tha...

Re: The OTA TV/NCAA blues

I thought CBS has had hold of these NCAA hoops rights for a long time. CBS has had a partnership with Turner for the NCAA tournament for the past 5 or 6 years now. Also, you can stream every tournament game for free on NCAA.com -- you don't need to verify your cable provider or anything as far as I...

Re: WXSP broadcast range question.

I've never had issues receiving WGVU in Muskegon. In fact, I even get WGVK's signal sometimes (albeit it's usually scrambly).

Re: Ben Wallace number retirement ceremony

For what it's worth, I read somewhere else that Dumars was in Europe (for whatever reason) and was unable to travel back for the ceremony. I guess we'll see if he shows up for Chauncey's ceremony next month.
