Re: HERE WE GO!!!!

I can't do it. I just don't have the heart for it. As much as I want to see blue pull it off and walk away with the W, I just know MSU is gonna pull this one out, even if by a small margin. MSU lives to mock UM and win that one game every year. MSU is better than we thought; UM still has a couple q...

Re: WOOD-TV Looking for a Meteorologist.

Assuming that no one else is leaving, then I'd assume this is indeed to scale Bill's schedule back even further (maybe he'll only do the 6pm on weekends and/or show up for severe weather coverage and special events).

Re: Media mogul Byron Allen pays $70M for Michigan TV station WJRT

Wait a ... what the ... ... he's owned The Weather Channel since 2018?!? I think The Weather Channel is a shell of what it used to be. IIRC, when IBM bought a chunk of the company it was split up and IBM ended up with basically all the "back end" of the operations and Byron just got...

Re: Morning shows,

Next year when Ellen ends her show just my opinion. Kinda surprise that WZZM isn't doing a 4PM newscast since Judge Judy ended her court show, I guess WZZM wants to keep Judge Judy repeats on at 4PM. Either WZZM figures it's cheaper to keep syndicating Judge Judy reruns than it is to produce anothe...

Re: WYCE... future?

WYCE is definitely unique due to its focus and support on the local GR/West Michigan music scene. They even put on an annual awards show called the "Jammies" in which viewers vote for their favorite local artists/albums/etc. for each year. It's probably the most successful station of its kind, at le...

Re: Ellen Bacca named first female Chief Meteorologist in West Michigan

The weather deck is stupid; I agree. I didn't mind the target, though. I liked the fact the weather team was held accountable for forecast accuracy. The weather ball is even more stupid than the deck. The physical weather ball is obstructed from view from most directions. The on screen weather ball...

Re: 9and10 Website

The 9and10 Website makes me mental... :barf They don't update with new hires and putting them on the website. You cannot find updates to any news stories, if they do them at all. It seems once Kevin Dunaway left; that 9 and 10 has struggled to keep their website up to date; with staff and everythin...

Re: Meteorologist Laura Velasquez joining Fox 17 WXMI Feb 15

I am always amazed that people think because people like Terry are popular or "have been there the longest and paid their dues" that it equates to promotions, chief, etc. I am also on record in a past thread after Underwood was shown the door saying that no way Kirkwood would be the next chief. As ...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike

There appears to be two antennas, one with 6 Bays near the top, and another 2 Bays further down the tower. WOOD-TV has its Muskegon area repeater on that tower, I believe. WOMS-CD also broadcasts from that same tower. WOMS broadcasts from a tower located off of White Road & Broton Road, just a shor...

Re: Meteorologist Laura Velasquez joining Fox 17 WXMI Feb 15

Laura will be Chief at 17 as will Ellen Bacca at 8. I expect that Terri would beg to disagree? Terri isn't a degreed meteorologist. I always figured Kirkwood was most likely to take over as Chief after Underwood left, but with Ellen appearing in primetime weathercasts most often, I wouldn't be surp...

So many of these places aren't even "officially" recognized unincorporated communities or CDPs. Wild.

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike

The biggest problem with Muskegon area radio, in my opinion, is the lack of local content on the stations actually targeting Muskegon. I believe 92.5, 97.5, 98.3 and 100.1 all rely on national programming around the clock. 101.7 & 107.9 rely on voicetracking from out-of-market personalities fairly ...

Re: Fox 17 Poaches Wood TV News Director

It's fine to leave for a new job. However, it seems particularly disloyal to leave a station where one has spent his entire career to go to the direct competition. Basically, he's seeking to undermine the very people who mentored him and gave him so many opportunities through the years. There must ...

Nobody goes on radio station websites anymore. It's social media or bust.
