Re: WOOD Severe Weather Coverage OnLine

The issue I had with WOOD was that the EAS would regularly override the audio of meteorologists on the OTA signal. The meteorologists were providing detailed analysis but they were silenced several times by a generic EAS alarm. You could see them present the up-to-the-minute radar but their words ...

So Ellen shouldn't have publicly congratulated Sam on her promotion???

I continue to be impressed with WLLA's choices for subchannels.

His last day on-air will be in December.
Looks like they are trying to milk this one for the entire year.

Re: WOOD TV goes dark during middle of Lions game

It's been awhile since I've driven by their plant but don't they have a couple of 5 meter satellite dish receivers on their roof they could have switched the feed to until Indy came back online? Decommissioned? Perhaps the dishes are just decorations now. They should have just put Blake Harms ...

Re: WOOD TV goes dark during middle of Lions game

Local broadcasters demand that we watch their signal and actively block all attempts for us to access out-of-market channels on cable and satellite.

Then they broadcast a black screen during much of the biggest pro football game in Michigan in decades.

Nice.

Re: TV meteorologists

I’ve been forecasting for longer than Blake has been alive. I’m pretty sure I’m more than qualified to comment on the pseudo science he claims to use to forecast school closings. It’s not a technique that’s scientifically authenticated by any real meteorological accreditation source, Luke the AMS, N ...

I still remember a short station break during the Today show when Matt waxed poetic about the beautiful camera shot in the background for so long that he forgot to deliver the forecast.

Re: Michigan Radio drops "Radio" from its name

For the past several months I have counted the number of times I have heard some version of a phrase " far right" , " right wing" , "extreme right" , " right wing extremists" etc versus a similar phrase inserting "left" instead of "right" . At the moment my score is 283-0. Almost suggests they can ...

Re: No Packers on FOX UP....

I can remember an almost opposite situation happened quite a while ago. I think it was back when TV-6 Marquette was CBS and CBS carried the NFC games. The Lions game was running long and the game was going to be decided in the last couple of minutes... but it was time for the Packers game to start ...

Re: CW7 changing on 1-1-24?

41.2 is currently DABL--which is also on 64.6 anyway, so nothing lost there. WOTV currently only has 1 HD, 2 SDs and weather radar. They have the bandwidth to add it without removing anything else. This gives Nexstar 4 broadcast networks in GR--NBC, ABC, MyNetworkTV and now CW. That's media ...

It will never happen. Broadcasters own the FCC.

Re: DIRECTV Says it Would Consider Cutting Out Locals to Avoid ‘Driving Business Off a Cliff’

Is it really that inconvenient to hit input, tv? A little bit, yes. Putting the input button prominently on the remote helps. Don't get me wrong, I think streaming services are great too. I just find it humorous how in the past all you had to do was turn the TV on and you were good to go. Now in ...
