Music Choice

Anyone having trouble with the online audio from Music Choice? As in it appears to not be there and retry, and nothing?

HD Radio Sync

Drove through Downriver Friday night playing around to see how long, if at all, I could hold HD lock on the FM's (as even WWJ couldn't stay locked, or SuperStation 910 either). Anyhow, Christmas music on WDZH, when it went from analog to HD1 you heard the same last 5 seconds again- real good sync th...

I agree. Better than no voice. Wish they would at least have a co-op at the station at 7pm so you can call someone and let them know when a station has dead air, but that doesn't appear to be the case in radio land anymore.

Re: SiriusXM Censored and Uncensored Channels

When the Heavy Metal channel returned years ago after its cancellation, it was the funniest 10 minutes of OTA radio in my life. Someone kept all the 80 voicemails from pissed-off subscribers, dropping F-bombs, telling them what they can do with their mothers, it was funny as all hell hearing all the...

Re: Realistic DX 160

The radio we all lusted over like a hot 21 year old, and never had enough money to afford either. I have a speaker for one, incase I ever find one for sale at a hamfest below the original retail price.

Re: Amy D fired from K100?

I thought Andy Stuart was able to justify keeping Timmy and Becky by having them VT two other stations while they were on their 93.5 shift? Is that no longer the case? Bill Stewart's voicetracking is so obvious, it's horrible. So what's the deal, BS gets one hour pay to VT 4 hours? Bye Amy- you thou...

Re: Anybody Have Any Experience With Fixing d'Arsonval Signal/Battery Strength Meters/Circuits?

For the heck of it, pull the batteries, connect a clip lead to short the battery power, turn unit on and off, and then remove clip lead, install batteries and give it a go. Ed Joseph is correct about trying to ground some genuine metallic/tin foil behind the movement; I'm not sure about the saliva p...

Re: HD 2 and 3 stations

I think the reason there isn't more HD2 and HD3 activity is because I believe that iBiquity, or whatever they changed their name to now, charges a fee for HD, which is stupid. They nail receiver manufacturers, so they have no incentive to add it for their fees as well. It's too bad, as Windsor menti...

Re: Another horrendous book for Q105

There in '79, Buddy Carr was in the big studio for WOHO, between big studio and front window was a large makeshift studio for Z105 reel to reel and cart automation, West of that was a nice production studio, 2 open reel decks, 2 turntables, full mixer, cart recorder and players. NW of that was dinky...

Re: WBCQ - Toledo?

I watched too much WKRP, I thought someone wrote WPIG, not WTPG. Thanks MW, so it's a satellite feed, and on the same tower (4 miles NE of BG airport) as WPFX and WNOC, so 3 FM's now on that Wood County tower. I wonder if WRQN has an aux setup on their same main tower in Haskins or have thought of h...

Re: SXM CH 69 Escape

If your SXM radio can receive Channel 301, then it's new enough for the 'Xtra channels' and the new codec. GM should be the XM network so if you can get the Xtra channels it's as good as it gets, while Chrysler as recent as 2013 still had the crappy Sirius audio- which is stereo, but horrible bitrat...

Re: SXM CH 69 Escape

Two things Turkeytop; SXM is out of bandwidth, so CH69 (Escape) and CH5 (50's on 5) got "downgraded" /changed to a new Codec so that the old "first generation" radios (Sony, Delphi SkyFi, etc) now receive only low-grade MONO audio; HOWEVER, IF you have a new 2.0 grade SXM tuner you get parametric st...

Re: WWV Time To Turn The Clocks Back

Where did CHU go? Used to be in the 40 meter band, but they moved up in frequency, not the old 7335 KHz anymore? And no backup transmitters? WWV is surprisingly good on 5MHz more so than 10 and 15MHz, occasionally on 2.5MHz, but haven't heard them on 20 or 25MHz in decades.

Re: FCC to allow All-Digital on AM Band

Don't kill the AM band with pure digital. Analog AM that can travel hundreds of miles at night when it all hits the fan needs to be kept. IF, and IF, they feel that they MUST have an all-digital AM signa, then limit it to one small section of the band: the X-band from 1610-1710 only. PERIOD. It ain'...
