Re: No more 60s on WMJI Cleveland?

Yes, but the big boys screwed the Ma and Pa internet small netcasters with a royalty rate so high that most are gone. Radiodomy just died after taking on stations that bailed from another service that went up in flames because the small netcaster royalty rates are higher than iHeart and friends. Als...

Re: 106.5 Toledo

Might as well move all the junk from 100.7 and simulcast it on 106.5, then it would be available 3 places if you include WQQO-HD2.

Re: WPAY

I think it was pretty sweet when they had all the Top 40's competing: WTTO, WOHO, WTOD (before Martz made'm country) WCWA/WTOL, but WSPD usually had the ratings crown except for one book when WTOD Top40 beat'em. WMGS 730 had a go of it before country and Jimmy Swigart.

Re: WPAY

the sad part about the story is that at one time there were plans to make it Toledo's strongest AM radio station by applying for a 10000 watt license, although directional of course. I can't think of any of the radio station that had transmitter sites in two different states, making it the most uniq...

Re: WPAY

that was actually a decent use of 1520 for K-LOVE classics, all they needed was a little bit of tweaking on the audio processing but the RF signal is quite decent. I don't understand the programming change though?

Re: 1560 WWYC off the air again

I'm still waiting to see if they ever run their 3 watts at night on 1560? But, doesn't the transmitter have to be FCC-type accepted? The days of built it yourself with a one tube AM transmitter are probably long gone. I believe that some of the Class D daytimers out west DO actually make use of thei...

Re: Mandating HD Radio

No, there is an FCC filing for some jughead that wants the entire AM band to be HD-AM digital only mode. Let's see, how well did that work in Canada with their L-Band back in 1999- that's right, they sold the radios for $99 and then everybody bailed. AM radio is our last caveman communication existe...

Re: Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer

Sorry to hear that Organman95, it can only be done in the early stages, and my friend lasted 8 years, not 8 months. And, strangely enough, the chemo that worked on him was the breast cancer chemo regimen, so having a doctor try unconventional treatments can be a plus in Stage IV. As I watched Jeopar...

Re: WPAY

SPeeDy is on WRVF-HD2 in stereo, and on mono on 92.9MHz. iHeart has too much money invested in the station to sell it that cheap, as it sold for a cool million back in about 1979, well before the inflated pricing came along in 1996. iHeart actually has fulltime engineers that keep their stations in ...

Re: Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer

Jimmy Carter pulled through impossible odds, but as a man of God, he had some help there. IF they could have caught Trebek at stage 1 or 2, the Whipple surgery would have gave him a fighting chance for 5 more years, but he's going to need some special experimental cancer drugs, and he could get 6 ye...

Re: Mandating HD Radio

Mandating technology that requires a royalty is a non-starter, unless you want a coupon system to give people radios. Also, HD on FM only, and jack it up to 10db, or it doesn't match analog's coverage. NO HD on the AM band; if anything, and HD FM radio must carry CQUAM AM stereo and noise blankers a...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

We need the Class 1A AM broadcasters, and they can run 250KW as far as I'm concerned, serving the public interest as PEP for the EAS. FCC should mandate minimum AM receiver standards to help with audio quality, and broadcasters should invest in local talent and unique musical offerings on the AM ban...
