Re: Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer

Sorry to hear that Organman95, it can only be done in the early stages, and my friend lasted 8 years, not 8 months. And, strangely enough, the chemo that worked on him was the breast cancer chemo regimen, so having a doctor try unconventional treatments can be a plus in Stage IV. As I watched Jeopar...

Re: WPAY

SPeeDy is on WRVF-HD2 in stereo, and on mono on 92.9MHz. iHeart has too much money invested in the station to sell it that cheap, as it sold for a cool million back in about 1979, well before the inflated pricing came along in 1996. iHeart actually has fulltime engineers that keep their stations in ...

Re: Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer

Jimmy Carter pulled through impossible odds, but as a man of God, he had some help there. IF they could have caught Trebek at stage 1 or 2, the Whipple surgery would have gave him a fighting chance for 5 more years, but he's going to need some special experimental cancer drugs, and he could get 6 ye...

Re: Mandating HD Radio

Mandating technology that requires a royalty is a non-starter, unless you want a coupon system to give people radios. Also, HD on FM only, and jack it up to 10db, or it doesn't match analog's coverage. NO HD on the AM band; if anything, and HD FM radio must carry CQUAM AM stereo and noise blankers a...

Re: Are 50KW Clear Channel Stations in Jeopardy?

We need the Class 1A AM broadcasters, and they can run 250KW as far as I'm concerned, serving the public interest as PEP for the EAS. FCC should mandate minimum AM receiver standards to help with audio quality, and broadcasters should invest in local talent and unique musical offerings on the AM ban...

Re: Gray/Raycom deal officially done, WTOL now a Tegna station

An explanation is in order here: did WTOL think it was April 1st? Trying to bring young viewers to 11 and let boomers go over to WTVG? And yes, WTOL needed a more seasoned anchorman- surprised that they didn't try to steal Bill Horman from 13, or smart money would have been on Laura Emerson to train...

GW Bush 2007 market crash cleaned me out, so no 401k radio station for me, but sure would love to do it.

Re: Could a Breeze Format make it in Toledo?

Hi Gary: Audio quality apparently varies by the content that you're given from your source-'the pipe'. At 7:29am today, the song had really thin bass, but then next song: "Just my Imagination" by the Temptations came on and the bass line was just perfect, but a couple of songs later Tina Tuner's "Wh...

Re: Could a Breeze Format make it in Toledo?

Call me stupid, but I just realized the The Breeze in Detroit and in Toledo are two different animals! 98.7 Detroit City has a totally different owner than iHeart, as iHeart provides the audio for WRVF-HD3. Wonder if iHeart ever considered putting The Breeze, or Sunny, on 103.7 WCKY-FM instead of co...

I wish the current WCXI format was on the original WCXI 1130 frequency so I could hear it down along the OH border.

Yes, I would have liked to see if WION would have lit up my STEREO light on my Caddy AMST "UX1" radio? If another test is coming by, let us know.

Re: Could a Breeze Format make it in Toledo?

Agree with Col. Flagg- there is no perfect go to for an 'at work station' like 101.5 WLQR was 25-30 years ago, and even WRQN was okay 4-5 years ago, but neither would fly today. The Breeze would be okay (WRVF-HD3), but audio is quite shrill and unpleasant to listen to for any period of time- not the...

92.1 for all practical purposes can't be used East of the Maumee River. However, 1520 was throwing a great signal up in Monroe, Michigan tonight.
