Re: WWV Time To Turn The Clocks Back

I use CHU in addition to WWV. Seems CHU comes in clearly when the WWV broadcasts don't, and vice versa.

Re: How Many Times Can You Watch This?

Star Trek (the original series), M*A*S*H, and Hogan's Heroes

There are a few All In The Family episodes I've seen many a time. I thought it was a funny show back when people like Archie Bunker seemed to be a dying breed. But now...not so much.

Re: 101.9 wldr

Why hasn't the disappearance of a 100 kW FM radio station from the airwaves caught the attention of TV 9 & 10 or TV 7 & 4? If a major signal disappeared in, say, Grand Rapids - the TV news rooms would be all over the story like flies on shit! When the 100kw WYKX Escanaba tower collapsed in 2015, th...

Re: WXII Ch. 12 analog looks lousey on cable.

It's been like that for years and years on Charter/Spectrum. The one time I have viewed them over-the-air, there were some weird artifacts in the picture; perhaps the artifacts are made worse by the video signal being digitized for cable distribution. They do have a construction permit for digital f...

Re: TV RF Channel Changes

WLUC should've taken the channel 8 allocation after the license for WDHS was deleted. But, I suppose they could always move back to 6. WDHS is an example of what might have been. That station would've been able to pick up a Big Three affiliation (likely NBC) when it was first licensed (since the li...

Re: TV RF Channel Changes

Just did a rescan here in Manistee and still can't get WCMW-DT...but WCMV is now coming in from Cadillac, and that's never happened before.

Re: 9&10 New Graphics Package

Saw the new graphics on Michigan This Morning today. I like the cleaner, less-busy look--but the font used is absolutely nondescript. I liked the old font better, even if it's pretty much the same as what CBS used for The NFL Today back in the early '90s.

Re: Baraga selling to Relevant Radio

I see the group sold for $345,000.

Will any of this money go back to the listeners who made the necessary donations to build this little empire and keep it on the air?

WJOK is an easy daytime catch in Manistee with a Terk AM Advantage antenna.

Re: Old cable lineups

I don't think that was Continental Cablevision - might have been something similar. Continental started in 63 in Tiffin and Fostoria in Ohio. Their first franchises in Michigan were in Jackson, Lansing and Roseville. Perhaps it didn't launch as Continental, but by 1967 it was branded as such, and o...

Re: Old cable lineups

Which explains why the system in the Canadian Soo imported WNEM and WJRT, until the early 2000s, when what became Shaw replaced them (and WNMU Marquette) with Detroit channels -- most of the time, when those stations had to pre-empt, it was for a regular special or a Tigers game. Note that the both...

Re: Plant Based Meat Substitute Products

Also inspired by this thread, I hit the local Burger King earlier today for an Impossible Whopper. It was surprisingly good with a flavor and moisture content more suggestive of a venison burger than a beef burger--and that's fine by me. Would I get another one? Absolutely! I'll get my next one with...

Re: Manistee, MI through the years

Did some cable systems in the UP pick up WXGZ? In the analog days, my great-grandma (who lived near Onekama) could occasionally pick up WGBA and WPNE, as well as W22BW from Sturgeon Bay, off the back of her antenna (which was aimed right at WGKI/WFQX) The Central UP cable systems operated by Bresna...

Re: Manistee, MI through the years

July 1988 2 - WBAY (CBS 2 Green Bay) ... January 1990 had the exact same lineup, which meant Manistee (and Ludington) missed the first few years of FOX as they never picked up WKBD, not even briefly in the late 1980s before WGKI came on (WGKI appears to have replaced WLUK in Manistee sometime betwe...

Re: Old cable lineups

Here's the cable lineup for Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in December of '89: (3) WNEM Bay City (NBC) ... (30) Home Shopping Interestingly, neither of northern Michigan's ABC or NBC affiliates were apprently carried in the Sault then. By contrast, if the TV Guide listing is accurate, Elliot Lake (midwa...

Re: Plant Based Meat Substitute Products

As far as meat substitutes in general go: the frugal Canadian inside of me can't wrap my head around meat substitutes costing more to buy than actual meat when they should cost much less to produce. If you've ever had good Falafel at a Middle Eastern restaurant, you know exactly what I mean--it's a ...
