Re: Don Cherry fired from Sportsnet

Anytime the phrase “You people” is used as a predicate, the remainder of the statement generally isn’t going to end well... "You People" certainly has became a dirty phrase of our century. The funny thing is, that those who really think what was said was bad are not trying to clarify who is and is ...

Re: RIP Jerome the Giraffe and Rust the Rooster

The show was on CH9 Windsor, so there are a few 50-somethings in Toledo that know that recorder song as the drawbridge goes up and down and the Friendly Giant invites you to pick a chair.... speaking of which, is that a specific song and is there a copy of it somewhere? It is a very old English fol...

Re: Podcasting?

Interesting question to raise, I've been listening to podcasts since 2005 myself. Not sure where I stand on the issue as much as it gave everyone the chance to basically have a show of their own online, yet the entryway often proved to feature a lot of things I didn't care to know at all thanks to t...

Well at least Detroit has another Spanish language channel, for now.
Too bad it's not a heavy hitter like Univision (which Detroit had two different affiliates in the past) or Telemundo (which never affiliated in Detroit).
Odd they couldn't keep neither network there.

Re: CTV News Windsor

Curiously, my Spectrum system serving Rockland and Central Maine offers Radio-Canada from CKSH Sherbrooke (as well as TVA outlet CHLT), but no English-language CBC, from CBMT or otherwise. Odd they wouldn't provide a CBC station, yet pick up Radio-Canada and TVA. Noticed this image while Googling a...

Re: CTV News Windsor

In Bangor and Eastern Maine, the Spectrum system in that market carries CBMT instead of CBAT Fredericton, also because the satellite feed was easier to get. At one time, back when it was private station CHSJ-TV, CBAT was offered on many Maine cable systems and even listed in TV Guide, but was ditch...

Re: WTOL may be removing MeTV

Maybe it's just me, but I think the FCC should have chopped and shredded the license. Just after W48AP call letters, the station has ALWAYS been a legal mess and a nightmare. 1) Where's the Lucas, Ottawa, Wood and Fulton County EAS activations? NEVER seen any. Whoops! Reminded I remember when W48AP...

Re: CTV News Windsor

Lately I've been watching a lot of CHWI 16, just out of sheer curiosity, and because of the fact that I can. And I must say, the picture quality on their newscasts is absolutely horrible. The station's digital channel is transmitted in 1080i, but the newscasts look like they're filmed on a standard...

Re: CICO-32 in Windsor

The CRTC is strict, I don't think that CBET (or any Canadian station for that matter) can target more than 20% of its advertising to non-Canadian areas. And all Canadian stations and cable channels (yes, they control cable TV over there!) have to air Canadian programming on 60% of their schedule, s...

If WMNT went down to a regular LPTV instead of Class A, they would not have been required to log children’s programming, at least is my understanding. However, they would not have been guaranteed a spot in the repack.
Interesting position they put themselves in.

Re: RIP Jerome the Giraffe and Rust the Rooster

R.I.P. I always took the armchair closest to the fireplace. Don't know how far into the U.S. the show reached, but I think we saw it on channel 9 from Windsor. Most of us pretty much saw it this way if a CBC station was close to the border. The show actually began in Madison, Wisconsin on WHA-TV in...
