Re: The anchor shuffle at WWJ

In my opinion, from 10 AM to 7 PM has been all female voices. Before I get jumped on for dissing females on the air, I love good female anchors however, there hasn't be any authoritative male voice on the air during that time period since Greg Bowman retired. Having Jason Scott on the in afternoon d...

Re: WWJ signal problems? (+ WJR audio distortion)

I don't know about anyone else noticing but, WWJ's HD signal drops in and out in areas it never did before. It's been happening at least for two months now. Perhaps the HD Xmiter is on a lower power, setting, that's just a guess because they appear to be at full power on the analog side.

Re: WJR-WWJ Daytime Groundwave vs. Distance Comparison

WWJ radiates a maximum ERP of 381 kW in the horizontal plane, directed toward an azimuth bearing of N353°E.
For some reason I got the wrong information.

Thanks

Re: WJR-WWJ Daytime Groundwave vs. Distance Comparison

WWJ in their major lobe puts out 586KW concentrated power daytime and 620KW at night when they go to 6 towers pulling the signal in from the SSW. That is the reason WWJ is stronger to the north. Picture the signal like a garden hose with a nozzle forcing the water out at a high pressure in one direc...

There is a simple explanation for all of this, it's called "CORPORATE GREED".

I haven't heard that one but, I knew someone who could hear a station in their toaster. They lived a quarter mile from the transmitter.

Re: WWJ signal problems?

As of yesterday they were at full power. When I posted earlier in this thread, they were on reduced power. With a six tower directional array, there is always the chance of problems compared to a non d station. If a station has an intermittent problem for short period of time I don't believe they ha...

What's impressive is being able to null out B93 while in Dewitt, and hear WRCL Frankenmuth. (Especially with B93's power)

Re: Comparing the weather radars

And so is the National Weather Service Radar. It seems that every time we have severe weather moving through the radar doesn't update. As I'm writing this the radar hasn't been updated for over 35 minutes, and we pay for the shit!

Re: Lou Roberts, RIP

I think it was his voice that tagged the "Belle Tire" spots I asked Lou at a golf outing several years back because I was curious if it was him that did the Belle Tire voice, and he told me it was someone else but I forgot the guys name that he told me. I'm sorry to hear about his passing, he was a...

Re: Detroit radio station cume (weekly unique listeners count)

WWJ has made a terrible choice of not simulcasting on an FM station
They do simulcast on FM but you need an HD radio to hear it. 97.1 HD2
