Re: Where’s Michelle DeSelms?
Trying to remember which female meteorologist from 8 (not Ellen) recently posted something about thanking Michelle for a TV friendly wardrobe since Michelle had left the business. Did not say if it was voluntary or not. I seldom watch 8 so I couldn't name another meteorologist from that station (oth...

Re: Gannett screws over award winning Holland Sentinel editor
I picked up a Sunday Port Huron Times Herald recently. 20 years ago it was a decent paper. Now, one local story. One. The rest is wire stories and retreads from the Free Press. And it's printed in Grand Rapids. Why bother? I thought the Port Huron paper was owned by Gannett. The Sentinel is also Ga...

I'm actually surprised that paper still exists. It's a joke compared to what it used to be.

Last I knew, that fiber optic cable also carried the signals for the computer labs downtown to the server farm and mainframe in Manitou Hall on the Allendale campus.

If I remember right, Bill would often try to get under Suzanne Geha's skin during the Freeman File segments.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 2:25 pmYou are absolutely right; I forgot that there was a story from Bill Freeman. I remember the "Freeman File" on News 8 in the late 80s.

Re: TV 8 weather/traffic
I've never understood traffic reports on television. On the radio yes, but how many people have televisions in their car?? Morning traffic reports on TV make sense given you are probably still home and can learn of any snags that may impact the drive to work. Afternoon reports I do agree with you o...

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the stations are being monitored by the hubs to make sure these "see the full interview on NewsNation" type plugs are given during local newscasts.

Jamie Sherrod departs Fox17
Jamie posted that her time at Fox17 has come to an end but doesn't say where she is going. Wondering if she was another casualty of the budget axe that also claimed Isabella Holsizer?

Re: George Lessens retiring
Just saw this as well. It will give him 44 years at WZZM. The only other on camera job I've read of George having was on the old PBS program AM Weather, which was produced by Maryland Public Television. Likely only worked at those two jobs as it appears George was born around 1958 based on his age a...

Re: WOOD TV goes dark during middle of Lions game
Not sure what stations run out of the Indy hub but according to NexStar.tv (and the find function of Microsoft Edge), NexStar owns 36 NBC affiliated stations across the country. Guessing WFLA runs out of a different hub as that is the NexStar owned NBC affiliate in Tampa, FL and either Blake or Bill...

Isabella Hulsizer departs Fox 17
Noticed last Saturday that weekend morning meteorologist Isabella Hulsizer was not on the air. This morning Kevin Craig was filling in and no mention of Isabella was made. Isabella's last Facebook post was on January 12 and she no longer appears on the stations list of on air personalities. Some of ...

I cannot believe how wrong Blake's School Closing Predictions were. Hopefully NexStar tells him to stop the crap.

Will be interesting to see if Davis' replacement has a similar on camera presence. He definitely made the show unique compared to the other three stations.

Re: TV meteorologists
I too have only seen the hype on WOOD-TV8, which isn't surprising. Their "Always alerting, always informing" slogan was dead on accurate on the first part to where my brother changed part two to be "always annoying"
