Re: News 8 at 4pm

News 8 is getting closer to making their old slogan "24 Hour" a reality. I took a look at a typical weekday schedule on their website and added in the upcoming changes taking effect September 12 (News 8 @ 4 replacing Ellen and Days of Our Lives moving to Peacock, being replaced with an afternoon nat...

Re: Fox 17 Launching 7pm Weekday Show

the funny thing is the program guide for YouTube TV still shows Newsfeed at 4:30am. When it began as "Coronavirus: The Rundown" it seemed overkill to have a 30 minute daily program on the topic given it already just about the only thing the local and network newscasts were talking about. Will be int...

Re: Old school TV 8 promotional videos from 1984

Cool to see the old promos surprised that WOTV/WoodTV aired prime Wheel in the first few years as I thought it was always WZZM in the 80s until WWMT took Wheel & Jeopardy combo in 93. I knew NBC aired morning/afternoon Wheel in the 80s. Also surprised to see Phil Don & Sally in the promo as I thoug...

Re: another departure from Fox17 Weather department

Detroit is a possibility given Anthony is from that area. I had two other thoughts cross my mind: One other possiblity is Las Vegas. His brother John was a reporter at WOOD-TV and is now at KTNV. Interestingly, KTNV is a Scripps owned ABC affiliate on Virtual Channel 13. But it seems if he was stayi...

Re: Meghan Bunchman hired at woodtv

I remember her. She was definitely lousy. So it didn't surprise me when GVSU hired her as an adjunct given quality level of some of the professors I had there.

Re: Fox 17 commercial break

I remember reading on their website that 17's switcher was on the friz. They ran a syndicated episode of Dateline NBC at 10pm and then started another at 11, interupting around 11:15 for a delayed newscast. Wonder if they only ran 30 minutes and then used 15 minutes of filler to get back on schedule...

Brent Ashcroft leaving WZZM

Brent Ashcroft posted the following earlier today to his Facebook page: LIFE UPDATE 2022 will be the beginning of a new chapter for me. My contract is up at WZZM and I have chosen not to re-sign. My last day at the station will be Thursday, December 23. It would be impossible for me to thank everybo...

Sinclair's WWMT hit by ransomware

Happened to see a Facebook post that News 3 Sunday Morning did not air due to what they called "technical difficulties". Just read on a Facebook group that Sinclair's corporate network got hit with a ransomware attack over the weekend. No TelePrompts, video servers or graphics. Some stations worked ...

Re: Morning shows,

Totally agree. Been watching News 8 Daybreak as well, although for me it is because 17 pushed the start time back from 4:30 to 5:00. I usually am heading out the door around 5:00. Plus their 4pm newscast is not that great with the new format. I've found Judge Judy to be more entertaining viewing for...
