Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.

That is correct, Jim Curcuru (aka The Q Man) did mornings for awhile and also worked at MUS. He moved from on air to sales at Super Q and I believe he was involved mostly in sales at MUS also.

Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.

Super Q in Whitehall. I know lots about Super Q in Whitehall. I was the program director there from 1974-78. We had a tight sounding little station with lots of talented on air people. Including the aformentioned John Alan who did the evening shift and was also the Chief engineer. Daniel Boone aka D...

Bob Moore and Bill Hollon former WZZM-FM jocks R.I.P.

I've been meaning to post this for some time, but keep getting busy and forget to do so. Two of my former co-workers at WZZM-FM in the early 70's have passed away. Bob Moore worked the morning show on ZZM 1970-73. He had previously worked in Muskegon at WTRU and WMUS. Bob later became an engineer an...

Re: Anyone Remember The Stations That Carried The Indy 500 In The 1960s?

I don't recall WMAX ever running the 500. I remember WOOD being the station that had the 500 in the Grand Rapids market

Ed VerSchure

Info from the WHTC website that long time West Michigan radio and TV personality Ed VerSchure has passed away at the age of 75. Ed worked at several stations during his career including WGRD, WZZM-TV (for over 30 years) and was the original owner of 92.7 WEVS in Saugatuck (now the Van). I worked wit...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS !!!

Well, a post above did ask it Jim Price was ever on a 25 man roster in the major leagues. I think I accurately answered that question. Whether he is qualified to broadcast a baseball game isn't my decision. Thankfully.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2021

From what I've seen so far, this team may come close to the 114 losses of the 2018 team. I hope they prove me wrong. Being a life long Tiger and Baseball fan, I still watch or listen to just about every Tiger game.

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS !!!

Jim Price was on the Tiger's roster for 5 seasons, 1967-1971. Mainly as the backup to Bill Freehan. His best season was probably 1969 when he hit .234 with 9 Home Runs and 28 RBI's. Jim was a career .214 hitter. Not great stats, but probably better than any of us who diss him on the buzzboard. He wa...

Re: We live in fame or go down in flame................

I worked at WLAV-AM in the summer of 1979 and it was already a throw away AM at that point. Extremely low ratings and no clue of how to program the AM station successfully. I only stayed there for about 4 months, cause I didn't think the station was really worth the effort. Left LAV-AM to go to work...

This decision made by an organization that for DECADES refused to let people of color participate in their leagues.

Re: Baseball Reference's Take on the 2021 Tigers

Anything close to sniffing the .500 mark, say 76-86 or better will be a good season for this years team. Actually anything north of 70 for this team would be a big improvement.

Re: Ron Dykstra, GM of WCUZ, Obituary

I am sorry to hear of the passing of my friend Ron Dykstra. Ron was both a mentor and sometimes tormentor during the early part of my radio career. In the fall of 1971 I was the 19 year old Assistant Program Director/Music Director at WZZM-FM 95.7 Grand Rapids. Our General Manager Russ Ochsankehl re...

If you happen to have a copy of this record in your collection, it's worth some money on ebay. I sold my copy several years ago for about One Hundred dollars.

Re: Love Is The Drug

For Whatever it's worth. How Long by Ace and Love is the Drug by Roxy Music were not on the charts at the same time. How Long hit the Billboard chart in March of 1975. Peaked at #3 and was on the hot 100 for 16 weeks. Love Is the Drug hit the Billboard chart one year later in March of 1976. Peaked a...

Barton Dieters

I'm surprised no one has posted yet about Barton and the story WOOD-TV featured on him this week. He has been battling West Nile disease since late last summer and at times it was quite touch and go. He is now making a slow recovery and was scheduled to return back home this week. I don't know and h...
