Re: WOMC

Not necessarily.

My wife and I are in our 60s. As we approach retirement, we live comfortably with almost no debt and more disposable income than ever before. And the only advertisers interested in us are peddling prescription drugs, retirement communities and the like.

Re: Downtrodden Minority Turns To President Trump

I wish someone could explain to me in clear, simple language how evangelical Christians are being discriminated against. How are they being prevented from worshipping as they wish? Or is the problem that they don't like having to obey all those nasty civil laws that America, officially a nonsectaria...

Has "Grapes" been fired?

https://deanblundell.com/sports/don-cherry-fired-from-hnic/ At his rare best, he was a moderately entertaining bufoon. At his more typical worst, he was like your drunken/crazy uncle who always said something stupid at Thanksgiving dinner when almost anyone else would have known to keep their mouth ...

Re: Trump Hijacks 4th of July

If a third-grader turned in a report based on Trump's speech--mixing up 2 wars and claiming that air power existed in 1775--the kid would have gotten an "F" on the assignment and the kid's parents would have been invited to a conference with the teacher. Still, about a third of Americans revere the ...

Just a note to our more civil neighbors to the North.

May you celebrate appropriately.
Those neighbors are due south of me.

How would they do up against an NBA team? Would it be a good match?
I don't know, but I played in a 5-minute game against them at a station promotion. It turned out as you might have expected.

My first car was a 1974 AMC Hornet. If there was ever a worse car made by human hands, I feel deep sorrow for anyone who owned or drove it.

Re: Jennifer Ann Wilson's downtown Plum Market puff piece on WXYZ

Even in the poorer areas of the city - which admittedly are widespread - there is usually a big box full service grocery store within two or three miles. http://www.dailydetroit.com/2018/09/10/the-motor-city-where-more-than-a-quarter-of-households-dont-have-cars-unveils-transportation-plan/ The pro...

Re: Jennifer Ann Wilson's downtown Plum Market puff piece on WXYZ

I think this "Food Desert" label everybody is using is a piece of crap. Is the whole area covered in sand, with 120 degree temps???? "Food desert" has been used for many years to describe areas where fresh, wholesome food, especially produce, is difficult to purchase. Much of the City of Detroit qu...

Re: Jennifer Ann Wilson's downtown Plum Market puff piece on WXYZ

MW, a substantial part of our grocery budget is spent at Plum Market. My wife lives the place and says the customer service there is excellent; they seem to have a bigger staff than other stores that size.

Your assessment of the place is 100 percent correct.
