Re: Bally/MLB
The pipe dream for Tigers OTA could be met in Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo on 64.8 or 64.9, which sit idle at the moment. I am now acquainted with a 313 Presents exec but won't see him for five weeks, by which time all should be resolved.

Re: CHSN Coming to West Michigan OTA
This does mean the White Sox, Black Hawks, Bulls, but not the Cubs, who are on Marquee (wondrous stating of the obvious). A simple search showed the early June story that explained the network was coming to pass. It's not optimal but I will gladly take it, hearkening back to the days of George and A...

WOOD Radio celebrated its centennial...
There were guests in on Steve and Bret's show through Thursday morning, Gary Allen, Mark Meijer, Phil Tower to name a few and former News Director Rich Jones, now long of Jacksonville's Morning News on WOKV AM/FM offering a recorded recollection of his time there. Mayor Bliss came on to offer a proc...

Sarah Michals was Sarah Grimmer when she started at 9&10 News in Cadillac, and brought it down to Grand Rapids/Lansing, then on to Detroit. She's an Oakland grad. I knew I'd seen that face before.

US 131 has always been about an avenue for a corridor inside of the Lake Michigan shore. There was a "US-131 Association" in decades past who lobbied and pushed for what's there and having the freeway sections get all the way to Petoskey and a merge with US-31 was their pie in the sky goal.

Lisa picked up from the Kent County Health Department and went to the Denver area in '15, if my recollection holds true. Steve Kelso, who did some time before the camera for News 8 then led communications for the KCHD till he retired in May of this year. There are all kinds of examples of reporters ...

Does this mean the end of "Jim Aaron's" music directorship at I-1430? I believe these two were pals in radio in Angola, IN before making their moves and unions in West Central Michigan.

Maybe he was a paper boy and counts delivering TV sections on Sundays. That would have taken me to four decades!

Justin was "Puddin," when he came to Grand Rapids and hosted WSNX' Morning show, what, 17 years ago. He was struck by an iHeart corporate axe, probably in '11 and went on to try production studio ops as a way to pay the bills. That may still be going on. When he started his midday talk show hosting ...

Re: No Detroit Lions radio affiliate in the Ludington area???
Doc Benson had the Cubs on in Cadillac, the year after their charmed season ('85) when he fired up an FM station at 107. I guess "they" thought that would take away from some of WKJF's market share. As a young broadcaster I didn't understand it, as a baseball fan it was great.

I used to enjoy Jack Buck and Hank Stram on KMOX for MNF waaaay back when, WJR was a Tigers/Red Wings station at the time and more pertinent, in terms of local talent and ratings!

Re: No Detroit Lions radio affiliate in the Ludington area???
WGFN-FM with a tower in Glen Arbor might deliver a feathery signal to that area. I am only over that way a couple of days a year, friends have a stupendous lake house on the narrows of Hamlin Lake. WKLA-AM in Ludington probably carried the Lions in ancient days, there was another signal over that wa...

Re: CKWW WILL LIVE ON!
There was a period of time where story count was the "big thing" in radio newscasting, I had two-minute recorded newscasts to produce that ran in overnights on a talk-oriented station and that included formatting in and out, with management "on me" to produce six stories in the cast. That's 18 secon...
