Re: Local Talent Axed at ESPN 96.1

The thousand-watter does feed a network, with WXYT-AM its most prominent affiliate, but you are right, the future for this offering is tenuous. Costa, at last look, still has a Facebook profile picture where he's standing in front of an ESPN 96.1 banner. Drew had announced he was done before that Tu...

Fred Heumann is back, on WILX...

A Tim Staudt tweet confirms this, Fred was on Channel 6 in the 80s, as I recall it and made it to Detroit for about a decade, then went back to 6 until some recent point.

He certainly knows the market.

Re: Rock Radio Is Dead (At Least For Me)

I do remember the rolling of "On The Run," to shortly thereafter hear songs like "Believe It Or Not," by Joey Scarbury. WTAC had already gone Country, so I listened to my 8-tracks to get by while painting fire hydrants on the Dow Chemical campus in Midland.

Re: BIG 101.3 FM — Fun Hits You Know

LT was "on," in drive time this morning, I heard Sweepers between every song for about 20 minutes, then he came on, either side of a song about 8:20 a.m. It is certainly a more desirable choice than what The Brew had become in recent years, nothing that will take the listening market by storm, thoug...

Re: WDRQ must be making WYCD sweat

I guess it can be bothersome that someone could presumably be unpleasant in appearance, though in my opinion it's more annoying how they sound or contribute to, or detract from the patter and flow of the show. Being from a point well outside the market, I used Google Images to get a look at Rachael,...

^^^^^^ Well, trouble seems to be all around us, these days.

Conrad is probably just pleased none of his new duties will involve any sign-on shifts in St. Johns.

If it keeps signals/formats the Tri-State people want in place, and some on-air jobs going, what's the harm?

Six ticks up the dial from where you last found him, with "Jethro 94.9" in Grand Rapids, and a Lowell stick at 99.5.

Good luck, David! Saw your story on WOOD TV this morning. I fully expect your faithful will follow you, good work getting set up with a midday shift and west-side commute!

Dabl, a CBS Universal network is now on 64.6.

If you like property shows or Martha Stewart, or Emeril, you have what you’re after, from an OTA outlet.

Re: Tony Clark has passed away.

My stint as a part-timer at WILS was brief, five months in '84, but I think Tony and I crossed paths there. Pretty sure he was the guy tying everything together, as "LS 102" aired a big load of carts with tertiary tones that had to be produced and WILS-AM ran Drake Chenault reel-to-reel tapes via au...

Re: Easy 93.3

I worked for the MacDonalds in Cadillac in the mid 80s and we had WEVZ-FM, "Easy 96.7" but that easiness could be Zamfir, Perry Como, Mantovani or whatever was on the automated reels. It went over to CHR and WWLZ, "Lakes FM" about 1988 and is now WLXV, playing Country as "The Bull." The old shirts g...

Maybe they just don't have that many sponsors and in the old days, the carousel would have had fewer carts.

Re: West Michigan has lost a legendary media personality...

I will have to turn the basement upside down and look for the half-hour of cable access I have of The Great Daryl Nathan. His passing has brought his "International Lover" back to my consciousness. It is a double-edged sword, the viewing of those performers who were, in the nicest sense, "unusual," ...
