Re: Local news outlets are obsessed with this idiotic "story"
This is a true story witnessed by me back around 2007:
I open my downriver news herald Sunday paper, and on the front page is a news headlined story above the fold , fully reported with store manager interview, with the title
“Local Meijer is open 24 hrs”
It must have been a slow news week for them.

Re: WWJ - AccuWeather's Carl Babinski, R.I.P
I swear he was on the radio right up to the end? I know I’ve heard him recently. My condolences and sympathies to his family. Far too young to have lost someone. WWJ is like a security blanket, it’s always there for you, traffic and weather on the 8,s. Sometimes I listen, my mid drifts, and I realiz...

Re: Fredo Cuomo in Trouble
Fredo cuomo is one of the biggest blowhard egos in media. It was nice watching him fall from grace and end up at newsnation, where he only makes $1m per year. I was surprised Dan Abrams took a chance on him. Scraping bottom of the barrel. He was probably $10m per year at cnn. Total narcissist too. P...

Chinese Communist Party billionaire secretly purchased 200K acres of US land a decade ago, sparking bipartisan outrage https://nypost.com/2024/01/13/news/chen-tianqiaos-purchase-of-200k-oregon-acres-sparks-outrage/ Wonder what the Chinese CCP will use 200k acres of farmland in Oregon for? Folks, pl...

Re: Federal Scientists Recommend Easing Restrictions on Marijuana
There are black market growers supplying product in such a way that oversupplies the market, bringing price down and legal licensed growers are going into receivership in Michigan. What’s next, decriminalizing crack, meth and heroin? Oregon is regretting that step from a few years ago as their OD de...

Re: Federal Scientists Recommend Easing Restrictions on Marijuana
“Marijuana is safe to decriminalize” ranks right up there with what big pharma told us about OxyContin etc in mid-90s “These painkillers are not addictive” thus began open street trades of opioids, scammy “pain clinics”, pill mills, zombies on the streets drugged out in a way not seen before (San Fr...

Re: Michigan's Win
I didn’t watch the game but read on a national media site, a questionable holding call against Alabama, and a non-holding call benefitting Michigan occurred.
Anyone agree on this? Does these two calls take anything away from UM victory?
Thanks

Re: Fauci is an Evil Liar
His NIH did an end-around for virus funding to the unsafe Wuhan lab (which clearly had unsafe and risky practices, duh) after Congress banned said funding in 2014. He is responsible for COVID, flat out. Recently He denies that he had any authority in mandated school closings or mask mandates. Recent...

Re: Pete Waldmeir, R.I.P.
What impressed me was that he ran for grosse pointe city council in 2004 after retiring from the paper and served a term. He got in the game after writing and critiquing the elites. Everyone should volunteer or try to serve and make things better in some way, instead of constantly complaining. His w...

Re: Beatty Interview
Beatty has kind of a long face like Kamala Harris. Perhaps they are related? Does she still have the full length fur coat that she was pulled over in, only to be found by the police to be having no clothes under the fur coat? That might be worth something at auction, to raise funds to pay the restit...

What a great memory from 1986. Bob page and Ron in their prime. Page went on to NY and onwards and upwards to the Madison square garden network. Re: WJR, boring programming
With every sports game on either cable tv , free tv, or streaming, can live local sports broadcasts be a large local revenue driver? Maybe pre or post game discussion shows? I will listen to Paul w today to check out the quality of the advertisers. Funny thing… I listen to these “retirement hour” in...

Re: WJR, boring programming
Help me understand How is a #16 rated station a ‘cash cow’. Many of the commercials are PSAs. Large Portions of airtime are sold off as infomercials (startup nation, retirement hour, healthline) Do they make money from syndicated stuff like red eye guys or mark levin? Many of the programs are aimed ...
