Re: RIP 89X

Maybe it's a fluke, maybe not, but WLLZ sounds better than usual this evening. Still some very tired songs in the mix, but the selection of 90s and early 00s songs has improved. I also heard "Rusty Cage" by Soundgarden this morning. I still don't understand why the hell they don't play Audioslave, t...

Re: RIP 89X

Great commercial. Just because those artists didn't put out loud, angry songs doesn't make them "snowflake" artists. (OK, Depeche Mode falls in that camp perhaps but not the others.) The song writing and musical ability was so much better back then. No fake music generated in the studio. Great lyric...

Re: RIP 89X

WYCD in spring shifted its music very intensively in a country/rhythmic, current intensive direction and paid the price in the ratings. WDRQ defeated it in A25-54 and A18-34 for two or three consecutive surveys. WYCD quickly wised up, backed off on that junk, and began including more library materia...

Re: The Breeze Drifts Away

It's a little sad that the Breeze format failed here after only a couple of years. But as others have mentioned, the writing was on the wall, with its falling ratings in part because of the move towards remote work. Perhaps concern about increased work-from-home activity contributed to its demise, ...

Another Clueless Clownsquare blunder!!!

The skill to play WGRD on Alexa does not work! Went to the Alexa skill & game store, launched it, got nada. Alexa does not recognize the command at all. According to comments found on the skill download page, it evidently stopped working last September . LMFAO. I bet the station is running promos on...

Re: Michigan is the laughing stock of college football

Michigan's defensive backs are utter garbage, and while the comeback win was nice - let's not kid ourselves - the opponent was FUCKING RUTGERS. I never thought a Michigan team with Harbaugh at the helm would consist of so many untalented players. Last night proved that McNamara isn't as bad as Milto...

The circumstances sound absolutely tragic; how horrible.

I definitely pass along my most sincere condolences to his friends and staff. His commitment to local radio was commendable.

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

Other artists an "alternative" station in Detroit should be playing to have a shot at success:
Garbage
Veruca Salt
Beck (more than just "Loser." How about "Where It's At?")
Letters to Cleo
Cake
Soul Coughing
The Rentals
The Cult
The Wallflowers
Collective Soul
Filter
Better Than Ezra
Live
Helmet

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

I agree. Demand for "new wave" era alternative is ultra niche, especially in a place like Michigan. WPLT in its short lived "Classic Alternative" phase focused on that era and was a spectacular ratings flop.

WLLZ scarily enough is now preset #2 in the car for FM.

Granted, most of my audio listening in the car is to Sirius XM.

Re: There might be a site outage later today

Good news; it was a false alarm. Sucuri detected no malware of any kind.

My IP changed because I rebooted the modem in my house. When I tried accessing the control panel using my normal credentials, Sucuri thought I was an intruder. Whitelisting my new IP solved the problem.
