Re: WOMC and “The 90’s

Stations are reacting to WLLZ.

I heard an abnormally high amount of late 80s butt rock on 94.7 WCSX this weekend and less 70s than usual. Also heard a couple 90s era Aerosmith songs.

Re: Arms leaving CBC Windsor News at 6

How many folks in Essex County actually watch local newscasts on CTV or CBC? I have a feeling local news viewership there (as a percentage of potential audience) is even worse than it is here in Metro Detroit.

98.7 The Shark may go down as one of the top five worst format changes in the country for 2019. For the second straight Nielsen survey, the station registered a pathetic 1.6 share. This is "No Rules Rock" all over again. The AC format (B98.7) produced three respectable surveys in a row - the station...

If Cumulus is smart (they tend to be dumb, unfortunately), they'll flip it to Rock.

There is a massive gap between WFBQ (Q95) and Alt 103.3.

760 is not that much better of a facility than 950 during daylight hours these days. At night, gains would mainly be on the far western and eastern flanks of the market. AM radio will slowly be phased out on many new car radios over the next 10 years unless the FCC takes action. The way to mitigate ...

Re: April Neilson Radio Ratings

WRIF's numbers are back to where they were for the most part when 106.7 The D was a decent ratings performer. WRIF is overloading on Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and Tom Petty these days, which is a bad strategic move. That move is only going to alienate P1's who don't find 106.7 appealing, and at the same ...

For 96.3, 93.1 & 760 combined? I was thinking somewhere in the $40 million to $50 million range. 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles went for $43 million and generates annual BCF of just under $5 million allegedly. The L.A. market, though, has a better long-term outlook than Detroit, of course. I cannot see th...

I'm still cracking up over how the morons at the News and Freep thought the new Tigers play-by-play man was going to someone with a nationally renowned resume. :rollin Absolutely NO ONE with highly regarded MLB play-by-play credentials wanted to touch the gig with a 100-ft long pole! I am unsure how...

Re: CKCO-3 Channel 42 Off the Air?

Wanna bet that Bell will try to bribe stations in Detroit and Buffalo to go cable only as well? No doubt that would cause Comcast to lick their chops. Yeah, I'll take the opposite side of that bet. Why the hell would Bell give a rat's ass whether or not U.S.-based network affiliates are cable/sat o...

Another scenario: Entercom buys WJR, simulcasts WWJ on it for 2-4 weeks, takes on the identity "News Now 760 WJR", then sells WWJ's license and plant to Salem. Salem sells WLQV to Zamora for some cash and the license and transmitter plant if WDTW. Thus Salem has 1340 to serve the East Side of Detro...

Saga focuses on small & medium size markets. Milwaukee & Columbus are the exceptions to the rule, but remember, Columbus used to be a much smaller market just 20 years ago. Beasley or any other major commercial owner lacking a presence in Chicago would be moronic to accept WLS-A (a quickly dying sta...

Salem hasn't acquired any properties of note in a long time. Rumor has it that they even be willing to part with 105.1 WAVA in the D.C. area.

I wouldn't be looking to Salem as a buyer.

Re: 93.1 Gnash FM is now the lowest rated station in Detroit

In the just released Nielsen audio ratings, 93.1 Gnash FM rebounded a bit. They remain the lowest rated full power commercial FM station in the market (excluding ultra niche 103.5 WMUZ), although Hot 107.5 didn't fare much better.

...so reports Inside Radio. Not just Detroit, but a bunch of other major market stations owned by Cumulus. http://www.insideradio.com/cumulus-media-s-mary-berner-more-dealmaking-ahead/article_113340c6-7612-11e9-9e13-93f6e0417b09.html http://www.insideradio.com/mary-berner-likely-has-more-deal-making...
