Re: Brother Stair on WCXI right now

My guess is the station doesn't generate enough revenue to cover the power bill.

Re: Roe v. Wade on the verge of being overturned?

I'd say a fair number of the participants looked menopausal.

Re: Roe v. Wade on the verge of being overturned?

It's appropriate to try to gain access to the SCOTUS or to PRIVATE homes? Alito's home is not in a gated neighborhood; he supposedly lives on a public street in a rather ordinary looking neighborhood. What I saw on Fox News moments ago was footage of maybe 200 middle aged women holding signs and ch...

Re: New set for Fox 2 and Channel 7?

I hate the current Fox 2 set. They should avoid using whichever company designed that visual disgrace. Very happy to hear it's on its way out!

Re: Tony Gates Pulled From WLAV

I remember tuning into WMRR in early '98 (under Goodrich ownership still) and hearing the canned satellite programming from either ABC or Westwood One. I couldn't believe my ears. You're absolutely right, Andy. It was awful. No more Early Morning Chaos. No more Kevin Matthews in afternoons. That sat...

I agree that W4's directional pattern is amazingly accurate. WCEN's is another I would place in that category.

Re: Tony Gates Pulled From WLAV

I'm pretty sure Sean Stevens was the PD. He spent a decent chunk of time at WGRD in the 70's & early 80s, and until recently, was heard on 106.5 WVFM in Kalamazoo for many years. At WJFM, it wouldn't surprise me if he started when the station briefly flirted with Top 40. I would love to hear airchec...

Re: Tony Gates Pulled From WLAV

I do remember that handle. :)

Even as a young kid, I thought that name sounded awkward. Too long.

Never can recall listening to 97 Radio Grand Rapids. My dad at the time was a loyal WJFM listener. He switched back to LAV several months after they became 97Rock. My mom mostly listened to WODJ.

Re: Ken Jennings as Jeopardy! Host

I agree with all of you. Jennings is definitely much better now than when he first started, he is more at ease, and he seems to be making the show his own (which is a good thing). A year ago, I preferred Mayim to Ken. I've completely changed sides since then. Mayim's hosting style is a bit too clini...

Re: Tony Gates Pulled From WLAV

I definitely remember hearing Petty on both 96.9 and 94.5 in the early or mid 90s. Remember, he had a new (and very successful) album out at the time. "You Wreck Me" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance" were singles from that album. 97Rock aired the same TV commercial for months to the tune of "We Will Rock...

Re: I disagree with our weather forecasters on TV

I certainly think mid 80s are very doable for Toledo one or more days next week.

Wouldn't completely surprise me if parts of Metro Detroit were to reach 85 degrees at least one day next week.
