Re: Beyonce and Country Music Part 2

I'd say Album Adult Alternative tends to have these parameters, followed by Adult Contemporary (traditional, as in what has been associated with dentist offices everywhere). Here's what I don't get. Beyonce records a country record and the world goes ape shit. Meanwhile, some fat fuck named Jellyrol...

I concur - EXQ is a newer issue of a 'residential' default plate. Most commercial license plates are XX ##### format, instead.

Looking at the picture in the FTV link, I'm guessing WDIV no longer owns the van. EXQ. Those are new plates.

Re: WUD T-Vee Speling Errers

It is generational... but, it is related to an ever-evolving progression of how English is spoken in this country, always cutting corners, linguistically speaking. It appears to be more common with younger, female speakers. If you want to go down a rabbit hole, just look up "t-glottalization". Now i...

Re: January Book Ratings, Big Wins For iHeart while Cumulus Limps

iHeart had tried literally every iteration of classic rock from 2000 to 2020 on 101.3... i.e. skewing older, or nudging it more in a mainstream rock direction, or a quasi-AAA format sometime in the mid 2000s, or "the next generation of classic rock" which really meant more 80s "butt rock". What woul...

Re: New meteorologist at WOOD-TV

She has about as much passion for reporting the weather as Bill Steffen does. I don't see her leaving too easily, but perhaps stepping back somewhat over the next several years. Have a feeling that Ellen is going to leave WOOD TV since she had the baby and wants to be a stay-at-home mom. they will a...

Re: Nielsen audio AQH shares - new results for GR, K'zoo and Muskegon

That's been a trend on increasing amounts of Top 40 radio stations nationally, as of late. It is an acknowledgement that the youngest demos aren't really listening to the radio, so might as well spike in some songs that 18 to 34s who are still listening might identify with. I noticed yesterday 105,3...

Re: Holy batman, GRD. Big gains in new Nielsen #s.

Frankly, I can't even figure out what WGRD is doing right. But, yeah, it must be something... or some sort of fortuitous book placement. There haven't been numbers this good since 2009 (see https://web.archive.org/web/20090828061646/https://ratings.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb127) (And, oh, ...

Re: WLAV's Rob Brandt Heading To iHeartMedia

As far as WLAV goes... the modern rock experiment lasted from late May of 1992 to September of 1993 - a bit over a year. The top-line ratings never matched or exceeded those of the previous WLAV incarnation, although it had developed a bit of a cult following during that time, especially around neig...

Re: Nielsen #s for GR radio - some significant movements!

That all seems fine, except I'd push WGRD closer to a true active rocker. Cut out ANY pre-1991 product... increase new music adds/spins. Give up that attempt to be the thorn on WLAVs side. If I were in charge of Townsquare GR: 1. Keep WGRD as is 2. Flip 95.7 to country, keeping Big Joe in mornings. ...

Re: Updated ratings!

Per Wikipedia (and this relates to my memory/experiences as well...) "On October 18, 2005, the station flipped to a Jack FM clone called "MAX-FM". It gained the call sign of WMAX from another Clear Channel operation in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 16, 2005. The station initially was programmed...

Re: A weird thing is occurring on my car's HD radio display...

If you've ever actually tuned into WGRD/Grand Rapids, there's a strong chance that the icon is cached in the radio's memory, and WJLB has no logo being sent, so it just defaults to that cached icon. You would likely need to check with your dealer, or do some online searching, and see if there are an...

Re: Weather reporting

Yep, and WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids made it sound painful... https://ibb.co/vhbwzBW Heaviest rainfall of 2+ plus inches occurred from far northern Oakland County northward, including the entire I-69 corridor. Most of Metro Detroit saw an inch or less with the lowest amounts (half inch or less) from Det...

Re: Nielsen Ratings May, 2023

Yes, this is right. CCM (particularly of the CHR/AC style) pretty much has production elements that are on-par with most secular music genres these days. It is built to appeal to a wide audience, and many can relate to them (there are also a fair number of songs in the CCM genre that address positiv...

Re: Nielsen Ratings May, 2023

I agree. Urban AC would have a much wider appeal in the market. That is just a dreadful showing for Blunder. Magic 104.9 is another station that needs to be put out of its misery. Flip the damn thing back to Urban AC! Better yet - a "throwbacks" format similar to 92.1 in Lansing. I'm surprised by 94...

Re: Nielsen Ratings May, 2023

These companies would have already entered the Grand Rapids market, if they wanted to, being that it is highly evangelical. I just don't see EMF or Family Life trying to tip a toe into the airwaves anytime soon. There are simply enough popular "Godcasters" in the market already (WCSG, WJQK, Smile-FM...
