Re: Devin Scillian
Devin walked away on his terms and not the stations. He picks and chooses what he wants to say or do. It's always better to leave a job with the people saying "Why did he go? rather than "it's about time!" Devin is a class act and always will be.

Re: Shawn Ley out at 4
I am sorry to see Shawn out at channel 4. He was always excellent and I always wondered why they didn't use him more as an anchor on the weekend. I hope he lands a good gig. He' will be missed.

Re: Christy McDonald
Christy will be missed by her viewers. As a single mom she was able to find work at NBC in Detroit. If she was a man there would be fewer negative comments. Whatever she decides to do she'll be a success. She's a young woman with talent.

Re: Mike Duffy, former Free Press TV critic, has died
First, Bob Talbert then Mike Downey and now Mike Duffy has left us but like them he leaves behind great memories and great columns. I like to think those three men have met in Heaven and having a good time swapping stories and making new memories. Rest in peace.

Re: Devin Scillian
The difference between Mort and Devin is that Devin was liked by everybody on scene and behind the scenes. Mort could be aloof. Devin is the guy you could have a drink with and he'd treat you like he would a president. Mort, not so much.

Re: Devin Scillian
I watched Ty yesterday and thought he did a great job. Management did well in choosing Devin's replacement. They acted fast knowing that December was around the corner. They realized they had nobody from within that could measure up.

Speaking of Colthorp . . . he's good at where he is in the mornings. He doesn't have what it takes to be a serious newscaster. Too much smiling. He willl always be a Jimmy Olsoen and not a Clark Kent type.

Re: CBS Detroit Is Unwatchable
I like the CBS Detroit station. I miss Ronnie Duncan as he is very personable and did a great job. Every new station that opens has its growing pains. It takes time to find your footing and make an impact on viewers. I understand what folks have written above but there are others like myself that ...

After Leslie got the $79,000 she had to pay her lawyer which might have been as much as 30% of her settlement. The bigger question was the non-compete clause dropped by her?
Leslie, if you are reading this please respond.

Not everyone can be like Devin. I find him refreshing as in he's not SMILING all the time like the others. He is serious in his reporting and that alone is refreshing.

A letter of reprimand in their files would be sufficient. Now they will overcover PRIDE WEEK and get away from the real news.
