Re: Another leaving WXYZ
I don't think it is that Murri is a control freak. It's that Murri wants to make all the decisions to make sure they benefit him. Don't do negative stories on Duggan because Mike rubs shoulders with him at the DAC. Anything his buddy Mort Meisner represents they must do a story on. Any on air talent ...

Negative about Flint Mayor and what he is doing in the city. Not the council. Mayor doesn't care if the council looks bad.
There are several reporters that can attest to pitching stories about the Mayor and the actual city and they are told nope not doing those types of stories.

Re: Allen Media Group bloodbath and ABC 12
Big loss for 12. Matt is a true professional and is a real leader in the newsroom. They really are dropping like flies there. I believe another reporter Alyssa also quit. She was one of the strongest they had as well. From what I hear, things are really bad there. Zero Morale. Zero Leadership. News ...

Re: Where is Johnny Kane? Detroit Tigers reveal 2025 broadcast team with new sideline reporter
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I think Kane is a great sideline reporter. His play by play or when he fills in anchoring isn't the best. Mickey York and Trevor Thompson are so seasoned that will be a shame to have them both be booted. Natalie is ok but so green. You can tell she ...

Re: CBS Detroit Future
It will be interesting to see what Kennan can do with it. Hopefully, he will be allowed to. No doubt he needed to get away from Mike Murri who only lets newscasts be a sales avenue. As far as 7's new ND, he may have been there a long time but he hasn't done much to help with the numbers all of these ...

Re: CBS Detroit Swings the Axe
CBS was going to have a tough time no matter what they did. They tried to come out as they were going to be something different and it didn't work. I don't believe you can really blame four seasoned managers. Matt Triplett has been a successful Managing Editor at 2 and 4. I think it was a smart hire ...

Re: David Custer
It's too bad. Although doesn't surprise me with the ego of the News Director there. I see a lot of non Custer fans on here but if you read any other social media, you folks are the only ones that don't like him. For whatever reason. I worked with David previously, he is a hard worker, he always ...

It looks like one table. That is certainly not all the news directors in the company.

They absolutely should get rid of no competes when the company chooses to get rid of you. I always thought that was crazy. I don't want you but you can't go to the competition either for a year.

Dupnack not going anywhere. It was a threat so she could get more at Fox 2 and wanted more anchoring time.

Emmys and those that don't deserve it
Congrats to those who were nominated for an Emmy. I know people have different opinions on Emmy's and their worth but I think when people put their own money up to pay for them, they should still get accolades when they are nominated. It looks like the Bally's bankruptcy stuff affected their entries ...

A typical move for a News Director to "make their mark" when they don't have the skillset to actually make it journalistically.

Re: WNEM News Director and Masters
No --most news directors are not out of the building half of the week. Yes, News directors have meetings and can't always be in the newsroom. But, to not be in the building because you are working out of a bureau so you don't have to commute is ridiculous. In a market like Flint/Saginaw, a news ...
