Re: Schematic Diagram For Realistic STA-111

I second the electrolytics. I have a Sony and a Pioneer on the bench doing the same thing, and I had to recap a Toshiba for the same issue. The Sony takes like ten minutes before the relays click. High end is pretty much gone as well. All told, I have probably six amps/receivers which need recapping...

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

That's... interesting. Nevada is impossible via tropo in Michigan due to the mountains and Channel 9 would be so ridiculously rare via Es that it's nearly (but not totally) unfeasible. To have the MUF climb that high happens perhaps once every 10 years. While it spiked up to Channel 13 in the block...

Re: Supertalk 1570, WWCK

1570 has always had an impressive footprint for what it is. I haven't been in that building since the 90's, I have no idea if the old transmitter has been replaced or not. I think it was a Gates. The door covering the tubes was like a roll-top desk door turned sideways. I know, back then, it wouldn'...

The homogenization continues. 94.7 is playing newer stuff along with their playlist of 50 songs, WRIF is playing more older stuff and 106.7 is trying to play tired old stuff mixed in with tired new stuff. AWESOME!
Yeah... typical radio fare in 2019.

Re: Amazon / Lexa Commercial

There is an ad on TV which says "Ok Google" which sets off Assistant on my tablet several times a freakin day! I tried disabling it, but I guess I need to like shoot the thing.

FET... yes, I avoid ads any possible way I can. I *despise* marketing and avoid it like the plague it is. But sometimes you can't get away from them.

Re: Mandating HD Radio

Agreed, 800 million radios is just the USA total and how many more world wide maybe twice that, That’s a lot of radios. And I say forget the Digital radio for both AM & FM we have Digital in streaming that’s all we need. And no transmission facilities are needed for streams, plus streaming works on...

Re: Mandating HD Radio

I know I wouldn't bother replacing my radios for HD reception, mandated or otherwise. I think digital-only radio on either band is a bad idea, which would kill terrestrial broadcasting in a heartbeat.

Re: Brian Holmes now at....

I had no idea there was even a station on 103.9 in Big Rapids. Granted, last time I listened to 103.9 anywhere up that way was probably 2014.

I really wish someone would take over Michiguide who can at least keep it up to date.

Re: AM1330 Drops Tigers

97.7 WTGV is also an option for Lapeer County listeners. When their automation doesn't screw up, that is. It's pretty funny... I use a freeware automation program (RadioDJ) that *hardly ever* screws up, even with RAM-hogging StereoTool running on the same box with 1 GB RAM on XP Pro. Why do so many...

Re: AM1330 Drops Tigers

WSGW only comes in in extreme West Genesee County, and only in the Daytime. Remember that they have to minimize overlap with CKLW. I live off of Corunna Rd (or M-21 if you prefer), near Dye Rd. Regarding WSGW... I have a Rhapsody Multiband radio (same as a Realistic SW-100) with a rotatable bar ant...

Yup. We talked about this on the Buzzboard many months ago. You're a little late to the party. :)
LOL, I haven't been up that way in probably 4 years. When did this happen anyways?
