Re: WWV Alert

I remember WWV from as far back as maybe 1967. I'm really amazed they brought back the 25 MHz signal as well. I found out that by accident one day tuning up an old shortwave rig a couple years back. I recall listening for WWVH to bleed through during the silent minutes starting at 45 past the hour. ...

Re: Engineer for WRSR

The wife and I took a trip over to our lake house this weekend. Coming back home, it's evident WRSR has tweaked their processing. The highs are still a bit "feathery" as I'd call it, but it's definitely cleaner than the chewed-up mess it was. About two weeks ago, I sent Jeremy Fenech a message on fa...

Who owns WFMK now, Cume-U-Less? I think Mr Big Boy got out right on time IMO.

Re: Personal political opinions on news folks' Facebook page

I watch mostly foreign news. As of late, I've noticed RT from Russia is going a bit toward "maybe we need someone crazy like Trump" in the past week, where all other networks, BBC especially, are in full-blown "OMG the sky fell last night". That said, right-wing parties in Europe have gone wild sinc...

They've degenerated into the worst TV station in that area IMO. Half the time, their "radar" channel sits on a Chrome "Oh,Snap!" page of white. For hours at a time.

Re: WKZO AM

Wondering what this will mean to my ability to hear UM football here in Allegan on WOOD FM. Can't be good - the WOOD signal is already sketchy here. I go to Allegan once a month. There's a number of stations that don't come in very good there. There is a pretty decent ridge to the north, just south...

Re: Sharon Cowell, "Wicked Wanda" At WTRX, Has Passed Away

I believe the origin of "Wicked Wanda" was a cartoon feature in a porn magazine. She was really a very nice person and made working at WTRX an enjoyable experience, even if we didn't make much money there. I still say WTRX was the best place I ever worked, both on-air and in engineering. Don McComb ...

Re: New VP at Cumulus Saginaw / Flint

Something tells me it will make no difference in their lack of quality. I can't really speak for other markets, but their stations in this one are unlistenable IMO.

Re: Personal political opinions on news folks' Facebook page

I still believe it's unprofessional for personal political opinions on journalists' Facebook pages. I fail to see anything "professional" about US media anymore. They only report what will cause controversy and ignore stories of real importance, or spin them left or right to fit their agendas. I do...

Re: Personal political opinions on news folks' Facebook page

That may very well be the case, The Chief, but you think there would be at least the illusion of impartiality and an attempt to not be biased. It goes like this: Newsperson's Facebook page: Can you believe what Trump is doing on immigration? Unbelievable! There are no words! Totally disgusted! Same...

Both political parties reduce down to the same thing... people getting screwed so corporations can keep control of milking the population for every cent they can. Different terminology, same screwing.

Re: The "personality" of radio stations

Agreed, WHMI is a fine station, full service like WCSR in Hillsdale. However, I would not classify their coverage as tiny. I can pull them in the car in both Lansing and Jackson, wall to wall and treetop tall, and listen to them far more than anything in this market. WHMI used to come in pretty wel...

"more awful morning radio"

Is there any other kind anymore? Except for maybe a few dozen decent stations in the US, most is awful day and night!

What an absolute joke. Do they even turn their noisemakers on and listen to them? They're the worst programming going through the most maladjusted processing... everywhere! I've never heard a station they didn't run right into the sewer! ANd how they treat their employees is despicable! You can prob...
