Re: How are you keeping warm this ice age

I start with a nice pair of fur-lined insulated boots, fleece socks, and I wear layers up top (tank top, light T shirt with a hood and then a flannel shirt) under my old Army "arctic parka" with the H*** hood. I wear a pair of subzero bib overalls, usually with just cutoffs or gym shorts under it be...

I think this might have got overlooked... still wondering.

That said, is there a site on the tendernet where you can view EAS messages which have been sent via terrestrial media?

Do you believe everything people with more power than you tell you?
Absolutely not. Never have and never will. And you are right about furnaces running non-stop. Mine is on 71 and runs at least eight times an hour right now. Turning it down to 65 would probably result in frozen pipes, to be honest.

Re: Music "died" after 2002

Good music has always been there, it just doesn't get airplay and takes literal research to find them. Every couple of weeks, I check out the charts (US and world) to see what's new. Most is the same old autotuner pop tripe, but there are a few good tunes there, they just seem to fall off the charts...

Re: "You Win Again" by Bee Gees

There are a bunch of Bee Gees tunes that didn't chart in the US, most were, IMO, the better songs in their library. This song is one of them. The Bee Gees had a lot of really good tracks that didn't "fit their mold", hence, not issued as singles.

Re: The Beatles, Love Them or Hate Them

I like the stuff that never gets airplay anymore, however, the "staples" result in a button push. I'm just that sick of hearing them, especially Hey Jude.

Re: Free radio automation software

Look at RadioDJ. It's free and it rocks. It can do voicetracking and everything. There is a third party plug-in which allows the use of WInamp2.x DSP plugins, including MuchFX, Shoutcast/Edcast/Altacast Source and even StereoTool. I find Sound Solution processor to be handy and more lightweight than...

All told, I have 10" in the middle of my yard. I know at least 2 of that came in the last two days.

Re: Turn DOWN your thermostat! Really?!

Since when are corporations able to send EAS alerts? Five phones in the house here went off last night with an alert. There was no EAS alert on Comcrap cable. Something seems off about this. What's next? "Kroger suggests you stock up on food due to extreme cold weather" type shit? That said, is ther...

Re: Pictures

I do not allow direct uploading & storage of image files, other than profile avatars, in order to reduce malware/trojan horse risk. I used Photobucket until all the crap happened and all were lost. Can you recommend free hosting sites that can be used for all kinds of files? EDIT: To answer my own ...

Re: am 1250 Saginaw

Alrighty then.... I'm guessing that what I remember about McCluskey's AM up there was probably correct, it was further down the dial. I'm guessing all the shakeups at WTCM probably trashed what he had planned. I think the worst performing station up north goes to 1230 WGRY. The absolute weakest sign...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

Just out of curiosity... what would you rather hear, a song you've heard non-stop for the last 30 years, or a song you haven't heard in decades? What about a song you never heard at all? Radio has lost it's sense of "discovery" almost completely. Remember, a lot of people 40 and under really don't c...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

Agreed, Now what I see eventually happening (But I could be wrong) is they may cut back on 60’s and 70’s titles but only time will tell, let’s face it 6 Decades to cover is like 3 generations something has to give it will be tough to please 3 generations, you either cut back 60’s and 70’s or 2K’s a...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

No offense whatsover to Tim, as he is great at his job, I just feel that if a PD is very passionate about a format, they shouldn't need to be taking suggestions. They should just know already that those songs work. He is a country fan and focuses all his attention on WYCD. I have no ill feelings to...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

He was pointing out the current state of radio in Detroit... he didn’t say that this being Detroit was the cause. Yeah, exactly, and it's by no means limited to Detroit. It's everywhere the big corporations own stations. They seem to treat radio stations no different than a fast food restaurant or ...
