Re: WWCK AM 1570 off the air?
The story I heard was that parts were needed for the transmitter and it would have taken a very long time to get them due to supply chain problems, so they bought a new transmitter because they could get it was lot faster, at least at the time. They couldn't run the 107.3 translator without 1570 AM ...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
You might be able to put an antenna for WJYM 730 somewhere South of Monroe, and protect WVFN and possibly negotiate the CHYR7 vacant allotment, but they would still have to protect CKAC to around a 50 watt nondirectional equivalent, like WVFN's PSSA. It looks like WRDT 560 might be a candidate for d...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM
It's still in the Region II Database. So is the 540 frequency, and they might be able to do more with that, if the Canadian regulators let them. That was 2500 watts Daytime, 5000 watts Nighttime, with a parallelogram pattern near the Detroit River. CHYR was authorized 10000 Daytime and 1000 Nighttim...

Re: Nielsen audio #'s released 9/21
Can't figure out how to save it as an image or cut and paste, but some of the answers of what might work for a full signal real Urban AC format, would be found at FM Fool. I put in a 49503 address at 6 feet AGL, and came to the obvious conclusion that WFGR or WTRV would be the obvious candidates fro...

Re: Nielsen audio #'s released 9/21
Does WCSG have a human or a website taking requests? I've noticed that some things like this need to be reprogrammed, and or they can be hacked. I think monthly surveys for markets of modest size compared to Major Markets may have a lot of statistical noise. I don't put much stock in month to month ...

Re: HD Radio in northern Michigan
About the only good purpose HD has on AM is the ID call letter feature. Since they have mainly given up on good unique FM HD-2+ formats, with the possible exception of AM simulcasts in electrically noisy areas, and feeding translators, they might as well license translators as another class of stati...

Re: Coming in fron London
There's a couple of possible 101.1 stations I can think of. WQON 101.1 Grayling is one. Another one, which used to be common in East Central Michigan outside of the WRIF strongest signal areas was WIXX 101.1 Green Bay, WI. By nulling out WRIF in those areas with a FM DA receiving antenna and selecti...

Barely into Washtenaw County, near Peach Mountain, off Stinchfield Woods Rd., North of Dexter. South of Pinckney. Kind of in the middle of nowhere. You can't get there from here. https://www.fccdata.org/?facid=&call=WUOM&ccode=1&city=&state=&country=US&zip=&arn=&party=&lmspf=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN...

Is that sale price broken down into station license value, equipment value, real estate land value, and any other agreements, like the recent WLCO sale, Colonel?

Re: Experimental Shortwave Radio Station W8XN In Detroit
Does anyone have any information about Experimental Shortwave Radio Station W8XN in Detroit, which had seemingly come about in the 1930's? My 1922 Consolidated Radio Call Book shows callsign 8XN being held at that time (1922) by the Carnegie Institute of Technology Radio Club, Pittsburgh, PA. Curio...

Re: A 50,000 watt FM station shouldn't be a waist
Well, Grand Rapids DOES have a beltline. They hang over the belt line like a paunch now. But seriously, Grand Rapids has more move ins than it knows what to do with. Like many other markets, it has too many stations for it's size. Having a multi county Metro means the Class B move ins don't serve t...

Re: Once Again I Ask-How Do You Define Rich?
As usual, the tax increases rarely affect Congress Neither does Joe's vaccine mandate. I will say AOC does appear to have a nice butt. So did Tonya Harding! They always say if you can't say anything nice about somebody, don't say anything at all. I guess that would apply to both AOC and Tonya Hardi...

What about this new format is unlike any radio station we've ever heard?
And they're stunting Led Zeppelin and its backmasked "Stairway To Heaven" like it was the #1 song on the WLS Silver Dollar Survey.
What's "groundbreaking"?

Re: 9/12-9/13 Tropos
For 40 years or more, I have noticed that WRVM 102.7 Suring has been heard frequently in Eastern Michigan. It probably has to do with Lake Michigan being at the right distance, like Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Erie, PA, are to Lake Erie for very frequent tropospheric events over the La...

Re: What’s This?
MACDonald Garber. From Ken MacDonald, Sr. on, they were very adamant about that, not wanting to be confused with a Fast Food joint. It would seem circa Classic Rock, since they are now playing a loop of Classic Rock or Classic Hits. Not sure how many tracks are in the loop. They may be just stunting...
