Where's MeTV on Channel 4.3???

Getting "New Amsterdam" on Channel 4.3 Over The Air, and on the MeTV Cable Channel. It's supposed to be MeTV. The person who answered the News Line acted like I was from Mars when I asked. That was 313-222-0444 with the News Department selected.

Re: Metro Detroit Quiz

I was given the test two days ago when I was half asleep. Wasn't clear on what some of the questions were. My test administrator, who gave it as a middle of the night alertness test, is also my back seat driver. It was a timed test. So I only got 15.

Re: FM BC Band Animal Tracking Transmitters

Someone somewhere may have used the BCB FM frequencies, but for the last 30 years, there are dozens of 160-170 MHz freqs that are used. And the signals only transmit for 10 ms every 5 or 10 minutes for birds, much more often for really large and dangerous animals. Mecosta County, circa 1980. Grante...

Re: What's WOOD-FM's current STA parameters?

I was driving between West Branch and Pinconning on I-75 the other day and I thought I was hearing WOOD-FM 106.9 very clearly. But it was actually W295CU 106.9 Tawas City, the 250 watt translator for WIOS 1480, which airs similar to identical programming during various dayparts. There was no cochann...

FM BC Band Animal Tracking Transmitters

They used to use FM BCB Transmitters for tracking animals. The transmitters were detectable for miles, using multielement Yagis. Are these still legal in the United States? They can't be within legal radiation limits, unless there are exceptions for research of this type. It used to be no problem fi...

Re: Non Commercial Radio in Flint

WFOV-LP 92.1, WFAH-LP 102.1, and WKUF-LP 94.3, all have Variety type noncommercial formats of various description. All are limited to the equivalent of 100 watts from 30 meters however. WFOV and WFAH lost their lease at the former Powers HS, and the Flint Board of Education reportedly didn't want th...

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale

When did the towers come down? Anything on the TV News? Why would the press care? No one really listens to the station. They were there in early August. AM stations are getting new life by diplexing, saving on land cost commitments. It is a better solution than just going nondirectional with flea p...

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale

I've been perusing the previous APPs for WCCW and WTCM. The advantage of these old applications is that they have access to the actual proofs of performance on DAs at the Secor Rd. and Chum's Corner sites. The 50 kW Day APP for WCCW back around 2008, granted but obviously never built, shows actual c...

Re: 1320 WDMJ Marquette VERY weak

My uncle lived in Marquette back in the 1940s. He travelled on US 41 a lot between Marquette and Ishpeming. He said neither WDMJ nor WJPD could be heard, at least hardly at all, in the other city.

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale

I thought so. The signal to the North is worse than it was with 5000 watts nondirectional, so I figured that the STA was operating. Why they applied for 3250 watts Day instead of 15000/4=3750 watts which would be allowed puzzles me. 7500/4=1875 watts Night makes sense. However, I wonder that if they...

Re: CKWW (?) 580 AM

To the best of my knowledge, CBEF was 2500 watts DA-1, then 2500 watts Day and 5000 watts Night DA-1, from the time it signed on circa 1970. 50000 watts may have been a possibility, but interference to WGR 550 Buffalo and WKRC 550 Cincinnati, along with interference ratios that had to be used to all...

Re: CB Skip...it's Back

FM should capture all but the strongest Kennelly Heaviside (E) Layer skip. Big improvement. I couldn't get a good signal a couple miles across a Lake with some 4 watt Radio Shack Walkie Talkies a couple decades ago, mostly due to linears and skip. FM would work well. Also, 27 MHz FM CB would be a go...

Re: Nielsen audio #'s released 9/21

Here's the obituary of Vernon Merritt, Jr., who founded WDZZ in Flint. https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2015/07/founder_of_flints_first_black-.html Grand Rapids would seem to be in the same situation as far as a full time, full signal, FM Urban format ownership. The translator doesn't seem to be eno...
