Re: Coming Soon

At long last, this anemic solar cycle 24 is about to shuffle off. Welcome 25. Well, that all depends on whose forecast you choose to believe. Or not. Solar experts predict the Sun’s activity in Solar Cycle 25 to be below average, similar to Solar Cycle 24 April 5, 2019 - Scientists charged with pre...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS!!!

A particularly good defensive play late in the game by the Tigers' third baseman got JP repeatedly exclaiming "Big League Play! Big League Play!"
That is kind of what's expected, here in the actual Big Leagues.

Its also a great time to air in the thick of wedding planning for June brides.
These shows are for the "bride-zillas" of 2020 and beyond.
Any June bride for this year would have had that planning stuff already locked down for at least a year or two.

But, he's probing that presumably broken Star Roamer using that VTVM (presumably also a Knight Kit). Freudian symbolism, hidden in plain sight? No knowledge of who "Electroniques" was (Canadian, presumably). Allied Radio, Chicago IL 60680, of the beloved Allied Catalog (the radio geek's "wish book")...

Re: 89.9 CBC Music (CBC Radio 2)

I'm very surprised our friend Turkeytop has not yet chimed in to insist that CBC Music 89.9 is nothing but all-"garage band"-all-the-time. :razz I totally agree with MW that the audio quality has sucked eggs for a long time now. Thin, low levels. I remember when the CBC Stereo service started up, an...

Re: Then, there's this.....

Watching WJBK 3/11 at 11am. First, distracted by Maurielle Lue's hideous costume. Noting two lower thirds errors in story on a traffic crash on the east side. Teaser said "Connor and Warren"- it was in fact much further north, between Harper and Gratiot. Graphic during Langton's story called the str...

Re: Programmable Thermostat

"Solid state" meant/means an electronic device that uses transistors and diodes, a marketing term to indicate it had no old fashioned vacuum tubes. Don't recall any thermostat ever that contained vacuum tubes! The old thermostats had a springy bi-metal strip that flexed with temperature, activating ...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

SPOILER ALERT! If you don't want to know who won the Jeopardy team tournament, don't read on. Team Brad won first place, team Ken was second and team Colby was third. Geez, if you're going to do a "spoiler alert" don't put the "spoiler" in the same line of copy as the Alert. There's that peripheral...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Tomorrow the final of Jeopardy's Team Tournament Of Champions will be bumped for Mayor Mike Duggan's State Of The City Address. However it will be shown the next evening, (bumping Wednesday return to regular Jeopardy.) It seems a prudent thing to do. Zap2It is saying that WDIV is airing the regular...

AM 1310, La Zeta.

Yes, the name means "The Z", though that letter isn't in its call sign!
"La Zeta" of course is just a branding identity. Before that it was "La Mega" though there was no "mega" in its callsign, though its dial position is 1.31 MEGAHertz :)

Re: Timothy Alan Dick, Harry Rodger Webb Callsigns, Funny Physics

...Look up KK8OTD in the meantime on one of the many search engines. The callsign shown on the show is NOT his actual callsign. It just hit me funny I guess. I never knew his given name. Tim is KK6OTD ( not 8 ). His fictional call on the show as Mike Baxter is KA0XTT. The very well-equipped shack, ...

"White Port and Lemon Juice" (W.P.L.J.) original by the Four Deuces, covered later by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. The Inspiration for (about to be gone) NYC callsign WPLJ.
