Re: September Ratings
Somehow my post got cut to pieces even after I proofread it. What it cut out was that I made the point that only the top five stations (WCSG, B-93, WOOD, WGRD, and WSNX ) did better than a 5% share. The rest of the stations and not just the ones owned by Cumulus are all bottom feeders. No I'm not a ...

September Ratings
The September ratings came out and just like before the non commercial Christian station WCSG was number one once again and the most powerful FM station B-93 with the modern country hits was number two. I-Heart had both WOOD and WSNX in the top five with WOOD at number three and WSNX at number five....

Does anyone have a polka show in Detroit?
Last weekend was the annual Pulaski Days celebration in Grand Rapids and that got me to thinking does anybody do polkas at all in the Detroit market? I know at one time there were ethnic stations that played polkas and an AM Catholic religious station also played polkas but does polka radio still ex...

Re: September Nielsen Monthly
I noticed that WOMC was number one once again with Classic Hits. I think WOMC needs competition and I think Detroit could use a classic hits that mixes in 60's hits along with the 70's and 80's hits heard on WOMC. Perhaps Cumulus could flip WDRQ to this kind of classic hits station or maybe I-Heart ...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here
The last post said that Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and Fleetwood Mac were boring and criticized WLLZ for their airplay. I have a mixed response to that statement. I do agree that the I-Heart corporate playlist of those artists can be tire- some for some people but those artists still are popular today...

Happy Pulaski Days and Polka Radio
I want to say Happy Pulaski Days to all of the Polish Americans because we're into the Pulaski Days here in Grand Rapids. This tradition is celebrated in all of the Polish Halls in G.R. and with a Saturday Morning Parade. WYGR-AM and Jethro FM is where polkas are found on the radio each weekend and ...

August Radio Ratings
The August Nielsen ratings have come out and here is my commentary along with the numbers. The non commercial Christian station from Cornerstone University WCSG is number one once again and more popular than any commercial station including B-93. WCSG jumped up to a 9.3% share. This demonstrates tha...

Fall Membership Drive
WGVU-FM 88.5 in Grand Rapids and WGVS-FM 95.3 in the Whitehall/ Muskegon area is having its fall membership drive. If you like jazz on weeknights and Sundays and if you like blues all night on both Friday and Saturdays than you should support this fundraising effort because the music played is the b...

Re: WLLZ
WLLZ always loses against their classic rock competitor WCSX. WCSX was number two in the August overall 12 and over Nielsen ratings with a 6.8% share. WLLZ was number 15 in the overall 12 and over ratings with a 3% share. WCSX is the best classic rock station in both the Detroit area market and the ...

Re: the old WJPW-AM 810
For about a year in the 1980's I worked at WJPW. I also volunteered at what was then a low powered, all volunteer, and mono community radio station called WEHB. There were a few of us that worked both stations in the 1980's. The most famous of them all were the Polka Pops hosts Ernie Pierogi and Jer...

Re: Tony Gates Pulled From WLAV
Tony Gates during his two periods as a WLAV radio host has referred to himself as "Tone The Fun Guy" and because of WBFX aka "The Big 101.3 FM" claims that their hits from the 60's and 70's are "fun hits" here's an idea. I think that I Heart radio should hire "Tone The Fun Guy" and put him on aftern...

Re: New Radio Ratings July 25
In the last ratings WTNR-FM 107.3 "Blunder Country" dropped to a 1.2% share from a 1.6% share. A format change is needed.

The best music radio program in Lansing
I believe that the best music radio program in Lansing is on Sunday nights at 7. That is "The Capital City Blues Cruise" hosted by Scott Allman on WMMQ-FM 94.9 the classic rock station. Now that LCC sold their weak station WLNZ to U-M that means that the only blues from Lansing airs Sunday night bec...

Re: New market manager for Cumulus GR named
I hope that this new market manager has the authority to dump "Blunder Country" and put something better on the 50,000 watt 107.3 FM. I've suggested some format changes and GR needs a format change on the radio badly. I don't know if he'll just rubber stamp the continued insane idea of Cumulus think...

July Ratings and Detroit/ SE Michigan Classic Hits and Classic Rock
WOMC is number one with their classic hits format of pop hits from the 70's and 80's. WOMC had a 8.0% share. I noticed before the ratings for July came out there were posts regarding their lack of Alice Cooper airplay. I think they should play more Alice Cooper (except "Schools Out") as well as get ...
