Re: 910 am super station breaking news

Rome's show could be cut in half because he repeats everything. So much of his show with the clones riff off, or whatever it is, is a bunch of inside jokes of callers bashing one another. My work vehicle CD player gets a lot of work after 1 PM. Yeah Rome's show is really about... Rome's show. The g...

Re: Jim Price

Jim Price caused Larry Oosterman, a highly skilled play by play man, to lose his job. I was no fan of Price's on-air work as a play by play man in the 90s. Enormous downgrade from Oosterman. He was passable as a color analyst. Always tuned out for the middle three innings he used to call on radio a...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS !!!

Dirks is great and I thought he should've been the guy a couple of years ago. The Scales hire mystifies me - although local, he has no ties to the Tigers and really isn't very good on air.

Re: Trouble at Bally Sports

The days of milking pay TV subscribers whether they watched sports or not are drawing to a close. Given how the NHL has turned the game into a medium to display live ads on the boards, I think they're all going to either resort to streaming their own and/or putting it back on broadcast. It was alwa...

Re: NBC Discusses Ending Prime-Time Lineup at 10pm

I work with predominantly 20-30 somethings and literally not a single one of them watches network TV outside of live sports. Not even the news or Jimmy Fallon (where I bet the average viewer is 60+). We're only a few short years away from network television as we know it being completely dead.

Re: Lazy Tony Ortiz

This has to be the easiest job in the world. I feel like such a dumbass earning a BS in chemistry and toiling in the pharmaceutical industry when instead I could’ve spent a total of 30 minutes of my day compiling sports audio for pithy updates and still made a living. Please tell me these update guy...

The product on the field is so historically awful that I find I don’t even care how bad Price is. Sell the team, Chris.

Had today’s Tigers game on the radio for a moment and couldn’t figure out who was doing color today with Dickerson?

Re: Love Is The Drug

Paul Carrack played keyboards for Roxy Music around 1980, (the Flesh And Blood album.) He also has a credit on their final album, 1982's Avalon, (Track 8 / To Turn You On.) I saw Roxy Music at Cobo during the Avalon tour. I was 15 and it was one of the coolest things I've seen in my life. Weirdly e...

They really need to fix Monday Night Football. Inexcusable it's the worst presented football telecast now.

Re: Historic WWJ building to be redeveloped

As the story goes, the great flood of 2014 rendered this building condemnable and Union Joints (which oddly pulled plans for a Birmingham Bistro shortly thereafter) didn't have deep enough pockets to reclaim the property. They were awarded a brownfield redevelopment grant from the State to clean the...

Re: Will WJR Soon Drop Talk For All News?

You are aware that Mr. Limbaugh has stage 4 lung cancer, right? Once his personal health forces him to retire, I agree that scores of conservative talk stations will have a very sizable ratings hole to fill. Just popped onto Youtube to listen to Rush for a sec. He sounds terrible, but hey - lifelon...

Re: Frank Beckmann to retire from WJR

We used to listen to him for comedy 15 years ago. Whenever a guest came on he disagreed with politically, he'd cut them off and get 'the last word' in after they were gone, essentially talking behind their backs. He never could hang in a debate, so that was his only recourse. Indeed, don't let the d...

Most of their callers sound either drunk or high.
Functional, working adults don't have all day to wait in a queue to speak to a sports jock. The very model lends itself to mostly derelicts calling in.
