Amy Davis back on the air, this time at 107.7 the Wolf.

107.7 the Wolf announced on their Facebook page that they have hired former K100 midday personality Amy Davis to do middays. She was at K100 for nearly 15 years, until being fired in December.

Classic Hits 419

I don't think anyone's talked about this yet, But Jeff Lamb has an amazing internet station called "Classic Hits 419". The station plays a wide variety of hits from the '60s,'70s, '80s '90s, and the 2000s. The playlist has a total of 2500 songs, and quite a few are songs you don't hear every day on ...

Re: Evolution of Cable TV Channels.

Under Byron Allen's ownership, this obviously has not happened at all. They received quite a bit of backlash for not covering the tornado in Dayton last Memorial Day that caused lots of damage, injured some people, and even killed one woman. It wouldn't surprise me if happens again this year, with ...

Re: Gnash FM 93.1 to rebrand - probably on or near February 22

This will be interesting for sure. They should have had a local morning show from the beginning. This might actually increase ratings for the station. There seem to be fewer Nash-branded stations compared to the years the Dickey Brothers ran Cumulus.

102.3 Proclaim FM (WPOS) rebranding?

Last Friday, while driving down Alexis, I noticed a billboard that simply just contained the words 102.3 Boost FM. The station still brands itself as Proclaim FM, but I wonder if a rebranding is in the works?

Re: WNWO last night during SNL.

I sound like a broken record when these issues come up, but I wish the FCC would do away with their "network non-duplication" and "syndex" rules so cable providers like Buckeye Broadband could offer NBC via Detroit's WDIV, in addition to WNWO, so when things like the SNL screw up happen, consumers ...

Re: Evolution of Cable TV Channels.

Sadly, the Weather Channel has gotten worse - not better - under its new ownership. I agree. I still remember 5 years ago when they were still under NBCUniversal owner, that they were going to drop all reality shows from their lineup and go back to 24/7 weather. Under Byron Allen's ownership, this ...

Re: Evolution of Cable TV Channels.

Agree about the Weather Channel and HLN no longer being the channels they used to be. CNBC is still a business news network by day and reality shows about business and money at night.

Re: Difference between Sirius and XM before the merger.

XM was the music Cadillac programmed by people who loved music and deep playlists, like talent, and an "Oh wow" song once a week. Audio was about 48kB - CD quality too. Nice audio processing. Niche channels without 47 rock channels. About 6-8 one of a kind stations that are missed. Live on air tale...

Least favorite commercials of all-time

I've been watching commercials for as long as I've been watching TV. What are some of the worst ones you can remember seeing? The ones that you'd change the channel or mute to try to avoid them.

Re: Iowa Listeners 1 - iHeart 0

I love the fact the ultra low rated, extremely heavily voicetracked "ALT" station is the one getting the ax to preserve a Sports format with a great deal of local content. Great move! Kudos to the listeners and advertisers in Central Iowa for making their voices heard! I wonder if this means other ...

Re: Surprising programming change upcoming to WGN America; 3 hour national newscast to debut

WGN America is pretty much mostly reruns, especially COPS, Blue Bloods and MASH in prime-time, especially for the last few years. For a while, they had a few semi-popular premium-style shows, but they decided to use shows from Canada as their "original programming". I think since they stopped being ...

It looks like Scott Sands's show on 1370 is a rerun today, as they're mentioning events that have already happened.

Re: Iheart Disloctation

Talked to a buddy of mine who used to work for Iheart. The layoffs include Jerry Pickering, Don Zellers, Dan Nawrocki, Aimee from IOT and the River, and Chris Proctor from Kiss-FM and 94.9 the Beat. A sad day for everyone who works over there.
