Re: 106.7 on the air?
One might imagine this is satisfy the minimum FCC requirements, as Northern is likely between STAs... and there's still a deal to be closed at some point. I imagine once they satisfy the minimum requirement for WSRT, they'll begin running the same on audio WFDX 92.5, as it's been off, as well.

Re: Ann Carlini
It was announced today that Ann Carlini after 30 years at WRIF will join Rock 105 and 95.5. She will be doing mid days. She and her husband have moved up from the Detroit area. This is a major market move by Black Diamond! Also they have purchased stations in the Midland area. Well, I think Anne wa...

Re: Worst-sounding radio stations of all-time.
Driving down I-75, I caught WQON-FM the other day. It sounded as if they were playing songs directly from You Tube... or from a Memorex cassette recorded in the mid-80's (and pulled from a dusty shoebox). It doesn't help that the processing isn't good, but the audio quality I heard was some of the w...

Re: WJML
Wow, the existing configuration sure didn't last long! Wasn't Cadillac added just a couple years ago? I'm a little surprised Benzie is being dropped given its relatively close proximity to Traverse City. Clearly the amount of daily commuter traffic from Benzie to TC is far greater than it would be ...

Re: WJML
You are correct, though, to suggest TC-Petoskey market stations generally aren't worried about listenership in Manistee County. It's why Manistee, Benzie and Wexford Counties are being dropped from the new Nielsen metro that is now TC-Petoskey (Cadillac has been dropped from it). The other eight co...

Re: What Does the Fox Say? Goodbye...
Does anybody know the status of the 100.5 Boyne City translator of The Fox FM? Has it turned off completely with the absence of its parent station or has it been broadcasting other content or being sold? The translator was attached to the 92.5 frequency, which is silent. The translator goes as goes...

Re: WLDR Renewal Applications
For better or for worse, the FCC did grant the WLDR renewal yesterday (9/16). As one would expect, it's for the full term until 10/1/2028. Cheers! ~~ Statmanmi It just goes to show you the FCC cares more about collecting regulatory fees and fines than it does enforcing the moral turpitude clause it...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here
A thought did occur to me about this today. When WAS the last time a new Active/Contemporary rock station started up here? I don't mean shit like Alt 106.7, either. Something akin to WRIF. Was it K-Rock, over 20 years ago? I guess it amazes me that "Detroit Rock City" and WRIF's respectable ratings...

Re: Nielsen No More?
Assuming 106.7 does go classic country, does 96.7 the Bull remain as is or does it flip to a simulcast of 106.7? One would think a simulcast is a best solution, provided it goes country, as 106.7 has it's limitations to the south, where 96.7 is strongest. And regardless of whether Nielsen is in the...

Re: Nielsen No More?
If & when 106.7 returns to the airwaves (following license renewal), I predict that's the format you'll see there. I would concur with that. Classic country, with a heavy focus on core 80-90s artists -- Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alan Jackson. It makes the most sense, both from a f...

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Tim Moore dreamed up the market parameters as a way to get under market 200 and get access to national ad buys back on the day. I believe Greenville "Triad" market is the only geographically larger. So what you're saying is that Tim must have found a bigger word in his thesaurus to justify and matc...

At least Grays Harbor County bore Nirvana. :blink Grays Harbor County bored Nirvana to DEATH. Kurt had to get out of that going nowhere place as soon as he could afford bus fare. Awful area. Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
if you can believe what's left of the newest public Nielsens, WUPS is doing great in TC. Are we reading the same numbers? 1.5 share shows that they are NOT doing great. In fact, this very censored report shows that over 80% of actual radio listening is not listed - which means it's not subscribed. ...

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Will Eastlan make a play for here? How much do they cost? I don't know what the Eastlan costs would be. But Eastlan is only viable if the market is split in two; otherwise you end up with the same issue you have now with Nielsen. The 11-county metro has long been too big, requiring most to have sim...

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
When nobody else pays for the ratings, you get to have the top positions all to yourself. I have a sinking feeling that TC/Peto/Caddy Nielsens will soon go the way of these other markets they've recently dropped from their regular surveys: Battle Creek, Michigan, Bend, Oregon, Billings, Montana, Gr...
