Re: Why can't WHNE go to UHF 30?

Lansing is closer than you think. When interference occurs, for a certain percentage of the time, reflection is occurring from the troposphere, and terrain is less of a factor. If stations are actually operating on Low VHF, they bend over the hills better. So you may find that a station moving to Lo...

Re: Has WCXI 1160 moved to Milford Twp?

Yes. They must have been testing at the new site. But at my RL 30 miles away, and near the pattern maximum, if they're running directional, the signal was only in the 0.5 mV/m range, and didn't stop the scan on the Delco in my Buick. So I don't know what they are running power wise.

Re: Anyone Observe WCXI Or WPON Testing Activity?

WCXI seems to be testing today, with frequent carrier interruptions. My best estimate is that the signal is in the 0.5 mV/m range. My RL is about 30 miles East of the CP TL, and it is nulling in the direction of that site. It isn't stopping the scan on my Delco Radio in the Buick. I have no idea wha...

Re: Why can't WHNE go to UHF 30?

I think it is 36, but I could be wrong. Channel 37 is still reserved for Radio Telescopes. Treaty protection is often more stringent than domestic protection. However, overlap over bodies of water are excluded, and foreign countries (like Canada) only receive protection on land in the foreign countr...

Re: Coming Soon From Eton - Grundig

If it's anything like my BIL's, only buy it if you have an electrically quiet location to listen to it, and a location that doesn't have dozens of AM or FM IBOC stations, translators and Treaty drop ins nearby. Otherwise, you'll be unhappy and feel like you paid too much money for something you can'...

Worst Tower Sites For Getting Stuck-Water, Mud, Sand, Snow, Ice, Grade, etc.

What are the worst tower sites for getting stuck in the Michigan/Great Lakes Region? Sites where a four wheel drive may not be enough? I got stuck across from the WKNX/WJMK site trying to turn around. The WAAM site has been referred to by the staff as "Lake Sinclair", so named after a previous owner...

Re: America's Rural Radio Stations Are Vanishing

When a small town station is used as a "rim shot" staton into a larger city, it's the same as moving it into that city. Those stations operate as if they're in the larger city and generally don't mention the community of license only in the legal ID. In fact they normally try give the illusion to t...

Well, then we have to add 634-5789-Wilson Pickett, 867-5309-Tommy Tutone, and 777-9311-The Time.

And the lyrical line "488-3857" On The Corner of Love Street and Fool's Road by Solomon Burke.

Numerical Sequences In Pop Titles And Lyrics

There are many songs where the title and lyrics duplicate each other, and some, but not all, of those have been omitted due to redundancy. Titles One-Three Dog Night Two Divided By Love-Grass Roots 1-2-3-Len Barry 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 (Count The Days)-Charlie and Inez Foxx 5-10-15-20-25-30 (Years of Love)-...

Re: WKMF Call Letters Return To Flint

I always assumed that the cornfields in "Night Moves" were on Brassow Rd. When I drove down Brassow Rd., in the mid to late 1970s, it was still gravel as I recall. It was one of my tower hunting trips. I stopped after I had to be towed out of the mud across from WKNX on Gabel Rd., and was stopped by...

Is this true?

That's why you should get AAA, if you're older than 40, at least.

WKMF Call Letters Return To Flint

The WKMF call letters have returned to Flint on 88.9, previously WAKL. I suspect that the WAKL call letters will eventually end up on WPLJ 95.5 New York City. They are now parked in GA. The WKMF 88.9 transmitter is on the WCRZ tower, formerly WGMZ, the first FM sister station to WKMF 1470, and the t...

They're carried in Northern Michigan on WWMK Mac FM 106.3. You can get it on Alexa also on Tune In. Mac FM has a good format. It's similar to a cross between 70s on 7 and Yacht Rock. Does anyone at the Chicago Tribune know how to spell Petoskey correctly? It's only where the famous WBBM Newscaster, ...

Re: Kevin Sanderson

WAAM 1600, WTWR 92.3, WCAR 1130, and WKQI 95.5 are four others. WVMV 98.7 with Alexander Zonjic. WKFR 1400 Battle Creek. WJR and WWJ Traffic (contracted with traffic reporting companies I think).
