Can't They Just Let It Go?

They were talking again (repeat broadcast) on Guy Gordon on WJR to the Farmington Cheerleaders who are still maintaining that their former Coach was racially motivated for saying their routine made them look like strippers. I went to their coach's high school, and I knew her brother and several of h...

Re: Ferrite Bead Advice For AM BC Interference Supression

Thanks a lot for those links and information. I'll try to see what information I can get as to which devices are causing the most trouble and start there.

Re: WJGS Survey-The First On ARSA

I remember WJGS well. Really liked them a lot back then. 98 and a half was excellent and I also wish they'd return to that. Nice playlist btw... I'll email Gary and ask where he found that. It's in such pristine shape, it looks like it was in a storage area to preserve documents like the Library of...

Re: Ferrite Bead Advice For AM BC Interference Supression

I had an acquaintance who lived in Warren. He had an analog TV and no converter. For a few years after the final US flash cut, he just watched CBET Channel 9. When they went digital, he had no TV at all. Six months later, he was dead. When Digital Kills, it's as deadly as wild animal attacks. I did ...

Re: Ferrite Bead Advice For AM BC Interference Supression

Well, you could turn off the main breaker to see if the problem is in your house. But then you have to reset everything. The microwave even requires the date to be put in, not just the time. Most people have never had to exhaustively determine what every breaker controls. But you can eliminate a few...

Re: Ferrite Bead Advice For AM BC Interference Supression

They are like transformer cores that fit onto the outside of wires leading to and from noise producing electronic devices. The ferrite is supposed to trap the electromagnetic interference and limit its range by concentrating the electromagnetic field near the device in the ferrite material. This sho...

Ferrite Bead Advice For AM BC Interference Supression

Ferrite beads. What kinds should I get and where's the best place to put then on cords? What devices?

Which devices? Concerned about remote control smart phone on off dimmers for LED lights.

1) Transformers/power supplies
2) Routers
3) Remote control hubs
4) Others?

Re: WJGS Survey-The First On ARSA

For the youngsters who don't remember, WJGS Houghton Lake (WUPS Harrison) and WHGR were founded by the Sparks family, and were coowned with WEXL and WOMC for many years, whose studios and transmitters were/are at 2201 Woodward Heights in Ferndale. It's current owner, Black Diamond Broadcasting, is l...

WJGS Survey-The First On ARSA

Looks like an in house survey. Or maybe a few copies in record stores too. Anyone know more? Near mint copy.

Re: Rock’n Ronnie

Rockin' Robbie and Rockin' Ronnie are two different people. Funny though how people get their stage names, even if they are their real names. I ran into a DJ that used to be at 50000 watt WGTO 640 (now WFLF) Pine Hills, FL. The station he was at later, was a 1000 watt station on 1280, WIPC Lake Wale...

Oh, I thought this was about Mattis SuperTest Gulf. Used to gas up at their location down on Main Street before getting on to US 23 N during the Energy Crisis. That's right, there's ALWAYS A CRISIS.

Elton John: "Hold me closer Tony Danza."
I've never heard anyone mention this one.

"Oh, I finally found my fuselage,
Beyond the Yellow Brick Road."

I always had visions of Elton John schlepping his parachute and gear, looking for his fuselage after he bailed out.

Re: Wolverines vs. Detroit Lions

Not a perfectly analogous example - but to rebut craig's point, I would like to remind him that the AAA Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Detroit Tigers (soundly, I might add) in an exhibition contest held in the late 90's. Some years, the USPBL Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers could probably beat the Tige...

Re: The Old FM Band 42-50mhz

The short answer is no. It has been proposed in various forms, some by Larry Tighe from WRNJ Radio New Jersey, but shot down each time. One time they proposed using the 50-54 MHz 6 Meter Ham Band, which of course was also shot down. Here's the W45D 44.5 MHz Antenna. https://spaceintruderdetector.tum...
