Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis
WRCJ's transmitter was formerly at Lawton and Joy Road, not really near downtown (studio origination, not transmitter, is at Woodward/Selden). The transmitter and antenna moved in 2016 or 2017 to the American Tower site on 8 Mile at Meyers, so they are not part of this discussion. WGPR FM is at Woo...

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction)
Unless the FCC were to allow short spaced stations to agree to full nondirectonal facilities for class again under a revised Section 73.213, WMXD would still have to be directional. As such, it would need a separate antenna. WDET, WDTW, and WGPR could probably multiplex on a single broadband nondire...

Re: am 1250 Saginaw
Chris Peeters (CE WAMM, Assistant CE WKMF) told me back in the 1960s that at one time, WKNX was running 25000 watts and at Night. I don't know how that could have been, as you would have had to have a 25 kW transmitter, or seriously beefed up 10 kW transmitter with tubes and components and not to me...

Maybe the WBRN problems had to do with STL Microwave Tropo feed problems?

Re: WPON Update - 2019
I never saw the WBRB/WWHK 1160 application, but that sounds about right according to my calculations. It was 10000 watts Day and Night. I presume DA-2, but they probably would wait until they proofed it to get a more relaxed Day pattern, like WDRQ...WUFL 1030 did, letting out the deep nulls toward D...

Re: A breeze blowing into GR?
Maybe one of The Breeze stations should offer to pay Salem a yearly fee to use the call letters WIND-FM. TOH ID "100.5 The Breeze is WIND-FM Walker Grand Rapids."
I'll do the voiceover. You won't like it or broadcast it, but I'll do it. Or maybe they could get a smooth voice like Del's to do it.

Don't be sad,
'Cause Q106 ain't bad.
Too old for the format perhaps.

Re: Are most sound engineers half deaf?
People who listen to loud music all the time do get hearing loss. So even if it's just a rhetorical question, the answer is an attenuated yes.

Don McComb lived in the next sub South from the late legendary DJ Ed McKenzie, AKA Jack The Bellboy from WJBK, and who shared some of his memorabilia and memories with some of that same circle of associates you describe at his house near Don's. Ed had retired to his native Flushing, disgusted with t...

Re: WPON Update - 2019
I another thread, which disappeared in the attack, and on the WBRB History Card, the 3 original WBRB towers were at 44450 Hayes Rd., just South of the present day Lowes store. It is a wetland also, and was largely under water earlier this past week. The soil is clay there, and the water stays a long...

Re: Re: WOOD Radio, I'd be curious to know...
I will say 1300 has an impressive daytime signal along 131 northbound now. Picked it up decently near Reed City in early October. Signal was even readable in the Midland area. Haven't had a chance to test the nighttime signal yet. WRDZ 1300 LaGrange, IL starts to creep in during CH over the Central...

Re: Re: WOOD Radio, I'd be curious to know...
I've driven up I-75 to the Straits and back several times a year over the whole year and time WOOD has been operated with 20000 watts DA-1. There is considerable variation with Season. Also the 20000 watts plus the large antenna gain make it a frequent strong critical hours signal in the Northern LP...

Re: Re: WOOD Radio, I'd be curious to know...
I don't think moving the transmitter out to the middle of nowhere and going very directional Days did WOOD any good. Especially in Ottawa County. While diplexing WTKG 1230 wouldn't work very well because of the 70 kHz difference bandwidth restrictions, they would have done better repurposing the old...

TERK TUNVR1 HD TUNER DVR
Terk HD Tuner DVR Any reviews? Is the Thumb Drive extra? Otherwise I might rather take a Sunday Drive to the Thumb and buy an M-25 Decal if they have those yet. The reviews online run the gamut from 1 to 5 equally, indicating either bad quality control or a very steep learning curve. The problems de...

it doesn't really have to be that expensive to make an FM DA.
