Re: 50 Michigan movies

There should be some mention of all those old crime movies that reference Detroit. You know, the ones where Lefty just got in from Detroit, or the Big Guy just moved his operations to Detroit. Those movies say something about Detroit in the 1940s and 1950s.

Re: Tara Edwards case dismissed

Can't believe this YouTube video is still posted. The old Channel 7 morning team is joking about a Malcolm Maddox coffee cup. At the end, Ann Marie LaFlamme says, "Every morning we get to enjoy Malcolm."

Re: Under representation in TV news

At the risk of offending the celebs and their fans, as well as the #metoo movement, which is NOT my intention with this post, but I'm going to tell it like it is. The idea that somehow women and minorities are underrepresented in local TV news is becoming more mythical as time goes by. Just take a ...

Re: LGBTQ+ News Personalities

There was also a part-time reporter, Hugh Janus, that used to be at Circle Seven. He and Ben Dover would work together nightside, whether on the clock or not. They had a give and take relationship. Lots of leap frog, taking turns, sharing, great team! They would swap stories and everything else! Wo...

Re: Ron Cameron

Mark Wilson must be wetting his pants tonight. On the Ron Cameron show he's always bragging about the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team, and they fired their coach today.

Christmas Music Discovery

The best Christmas music discovery this year: The American Top 40 for 12/25/71, when they counted down the top 40 Christmas songs of all time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdY6yoBKO7k). It's great fun—lots of novelty songs, lots of original versions. Interestingly, that was also the first Christm...

Random Christmas Music Thoughts

Very glad of two things: (1) That I waited until after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas radio and (2) That there are now two Christmas radio stations—gives me more choices on my commute. Have not yet heard "Do They Know It's Christmas?" Guess that's a focus group decision—too depressing. Wonder ...

Re: Don't cover the boobs with the banner

I suppose this is a good place to place a humble request upon our local media outlets. Because Channel 7 just did it again. During the 4 o'clock hour, CC does a plug for 2.4 Court TV, and introduces Julie Grant to give us more details. I immediately notice that Julie is easy on the eyes … until som...

Re: Detroit’s Broadcasting Hotties 2019

Anu Prakash and Ali Hoxie co-hosted the Channel 7 morning news this morning. Very pleasant experience, although Ali's hairstyle could look better. Bet she'd look nice with shorter hair.

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

In one word? Difficult

The main things to understand about Ron Cameron is that he was once an umpire and he doesn't want to be ordered around by anybody. That explains about 99 percent of his behavior.

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

So Mark Wilson's on tomorrow. That aside reference was quite a promotion of his only good guest. Mark's pretty good although he does get tired in the second hour and starts giving a lot of "so what who cares" answers. He also loves saying over and over that the Pistons haven't won a playoff game in...

Re: WNIC Switches to X-mas

Overall, I still am puzzled about how "Christmas spirit" is natural on November 1st, but at the stroke of midnight on December 26th, literally the minute that Christmas Day is over, nobody's interested anymore. Probably burnout for a lot of people. The last few years, I've tried to enjoy the Christ...

Re: WNIC Switches to X-mas

What makes this particularly bad is that Thanksgiving falls on the latest possible day this year (11/28).

Days between Halloween 2019 and Thanksgiving 2019: 28

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

My respect for Ron Cameron grew by leaps and bounds yesterday when he corrected himself on when he had to go off the air for Wayne State football. He first said 5:30, then clarified it by saying 5:29:15. :) Also, I tuned in last week and caught the beginning of the WSU football broadcast. They have ...
