The Breeze Drifts Away

It's a little sad that the Breeze format failed here after only a couple of years. But as others have mentioned, the writing was on the wall, with its falling ratings in part because of the move towards remote work. I found it most enjoyable as background music in restaurants and at home. I hardly e...

Ron did say that he's having a Christmas Day show this year.
I remember one year he broadcast on Christmas Day and he played "Happy Birthday Jesus" by Mike Douglas. It was kind of cute.

Re: Ron Cameron

Yeah, would love to hear Ron’s “last” Detroit show. And his big plans to take the nation by storm with a syndicated show. That succeeded as well as all the other hare-brained restaurant/boxing/oldies show ideas that I’ve been hearing from in the maybe 10 years I’m guessing I’ve been a faithful list...

Anyway you can upload the tape so we can hear it?
I'll see what I can do. I've got a whole shoe box full of cassette tapes from the 1980s and 1990s that I should transfer to digital, as soon as I can figure out all the knobs and buttons on my Crosley multi-function player.

Did he also do that "Sketches and Comments of the Great Lakes" feature?

Re: WNIC All Christmas

At my local Leo's Coney Island, they usually switch to another station when WNIC starts its Christmas music in November, then switch back after Thanksgiving. This year, it looks like they're just going to leave it on. As temporary background music, it's enjoyable, especially with all of the crazines...

Re: Ron Cameron

In my basement, I found a cassette tape marked "Ron Cameron, 2/18/97" It was Ron's "last" show in Detroit before he went to California to host a national sports talk show that would be syndicated to 30-100 stations. He said he'd always wanted to go to California but he never had the guts, but now he...

Re: Mac Davis dies at 78

I couldn't sleep one Saturday night and I ended up watching an interview with Mac Davis on one of the Saturday night music shows on PBS. Amazing career, much more than I realized.

Re: Unique Edit Of "Hello It's Me"

Before I started working from home more, and I had to block out a lot of noise in the office, the 1974 Todd album became my favorite go-to album under the headphones. An incredible sonic journey that I would rank with any other double album. Yet, contemporary reviews were mixed because it didn't rep...

Re: Beatles '73

I'd also include "One Day (At A Time)" from Lennon, "Little Lamb Dragonfly" from Paul's 1973 Wings album "Red Rose Speedway", and George's "The Day The World Gets 'Round". "Jet" isn't really a quiet song, but it's well done. Perhaps "I Lie Around", the B-Side of the summer '73 Wings single "Live An...

Re: Do BLM even to Blacks?

If this is a professional forum for BROADCASTERS AND BROADCAST PROFESSIONALS, why has this turned into a racist back slap? I myself look at Buzzboard for the grins and giggles. The more absurd the post, the bigger and longer lasting the grin. I don't get upset over any of it. If someone flames some...

Election Coverage

I flipped the dial between the three main news programs Friday morning between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. to see how they were covering the election, sacrificing my daily viewing of Dragnet on MeTV. In general, Channel 4 and 7 were trying to be objective, with enthusiasm for Biden occasionally slipping...

Re: Jamie Edmonds needs to be bumped to WDIV's full time sports anchor

Jamie is capable but just not strong enough, imo. Bernie is ok, except that schtick "We call this..." video filler has got to go. Bernie's a Personality, and adds to the chemistry of a highly rated newscast. I agree with all the criticism here, but his co-workers and employer seem to like him, and ...
