Re: Ric Ocasek RIP

Ric's first solo song & music video "Something To Grab For" (from 1982 "Beatitude"). Went to # 47 (Hot 100) & # 5 (Billboard's Mainstream Rock) in February of 1983. Model Marianne Gravette appears in the music video. Marianne was Playboy's Playmate Of The Year 1983. Marianne also appeared on the al...

Ric Ocasek RIP

Every classic rock station in the country should have a moment of silence for the late Ric Ocasek, the mastermind behind the first Cars album that helped establish the classic rock format in the late 1980s and still helps support it.

And of course, Eddie Money did his share too.

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

I had to chuckle when Ron talked about his days on WCAR and said, "All of the shows were foreign language except mine."

Wow, Matt just said, "I'm going to say what I'm going to say." Good for him. Ron couldn't handle it and gave him a few seconds of the silent treatment.

Tell me about it. No mention of anyone doing 69 on Dix and Big Beaver either.
I think you understand the real message that is given by these traffic babes with their skin-tight clothing.

"We're the sexy part of your morning news show."

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

How is this thread even still alive? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk People love to talk about what they hate about Ron. And they keep tuning in to find more to talk about. And Ron probably hasn't lost one millisecond of sleep over the criticism, as long as these people keep tuning in. The sam...

Re: Roop Raj: social justice warrior

It's a pity that most of these folk go right to the racist angle when there might not have been anything really implied. I've used that same statement ("I don't know where you're from, but...") to lots of friends and acquaintances even though I probably knew exactly where they were from (and most, ...

Re: Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethons

No matter why Jerry Lewis did it he did it and many people were helped. I assume there isn't a charity out there that doesn't make money for somebody but any money that goes to a good cause is a good thing. I have many friends that worked on the Detroit telethon and they worked their asses off I've...

Most Subservient Sportstalk Sidekick

Sully on the Mike Valenti show
Matt on the Ron Cameron show
Anyone else

I'd give the slight edge to Sully, with his nervous attempts to stand up to Valenti, who knows he can walk all over Sully. Matt occasionally tries to stand up to Cameron, but still needs to mature some more, like Alex.

Re: AAA - can it still work in Detroit?

How does one categorize or fall into AAA? I thought it was largely singer-songwriter, heavily acoustic. It just sounds like a vaguely worded format so how much subgenre variety should such a station play? While I dig select tracks, I always called it the "too hip for the room" format. Works WELL in...
