Re: New Music for Old Folks
Nothing at all. Good creative bands that interest you ears have left ,and over producing lame music with pro tools and auto tune is just a sad replacement of creativity and an insult to my ears . How many songs today would be laughed at 30 years ago ? Most all of them . Competition makes you better...

Re: Best Christmas Songs...
Run Run Rudolph sounds particularly good, as a memorial tribute to Chuck Berry. It's amazing how much music he got out of a basic set of instruments and the production techniques of the time.

Re: Ron Cameron's Restaurants?
I just Googled "Ron Cameron restaurant".
Result #1: Ron Cameron Opens Home Run Eatery on Orchard Lake Road
Result #3: Ron Cameron's Home Run Eatery - CLOSED
Interestingly, Result #2 was a "Ron Cameron In One Word:" discussion thread that started on this site in 2013.

That seems appropriate. A store that's been around a long time and is still popular (at least at the Westland store that I visited last week).stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 3:07 amYup, JC Penny.
I actually made a post about it but it got lost due to the hacking on Monday

Yes sir. She's also nice and professional. Wish she was on in the morning instead of Laughing Rhonda or Sarcastic Maurielle.

Re: Old Music for young Folks
This continues as you get older... I'm 59, and about 10 years ago I discovered the great series of albums that Frank Sinatra did for Capitol Records in the 1950s and early 1960s. One of the best musical experiences of my life. He sang much more than My Way, Strangers in the Night, and New York, New ...

98.7 finally hit the 10,000-song commercial free mark a day or so ago.
Anyone know what business was blessed with the first commercial?

Re: New Music for Old Folks
Surprised that no one's mentioned Radiohead. I've started listening to some of their music based on their high ranking in this list: https://www.besteveralbums.com/topratedstats.php
They've got a pretty accessible underground style that would have sounded good in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Re: New Music for Old Folks
The rise of hip hop and rap in the 1990's really split the pop music audience. I'll watch a YouTube video of music from any year before 1990 and recognize most of the music. After that, a lot of it's unfamiliar.

Re: Worst Christmas Songs on the Radio
My Jewish friend who spent many years in radio complains about famous Jewish recording artists doing Christmas albums. So according to my friend those are the worst Christmas songs. Interesting since most commercial music is produced to make a buck. Probably plenty of non Jewish singers also don’t ...

Re: 98.7 Christmas Music?
It's a good idea. At this point, the repeats are starting to get repetitive, so the Christmas songs are a way to keep people from going to WNIC.

Re: New Music for Old Folks
I graduated from high school in 1977, but I've been able to appreciate some current music, thanks to restaurant radio, Amazon Prime, and Saturday Night Live. My 2000s playlist on Amazon Prime includes these artists: Colby Caillat (Coco album) Katy Perry (a few singles and several album cuts, includ...
