Yes, off the air for at least the past week; presumably to save on the power bill, until buyers are found.
STA requests for both WSRT and WSRJ filed 12/19. "WSRT HAS SUSPENDED OPERATIONS DUE TO ONGOING FINANCIAL ISSUES WHICH HAVE MADE CONTINUED OPERATION AT THIS TIME UNSUSTAINABLE."

Re: The Fox soon WCMU

If 45 North owns the WMJZ tower, and if 45 North can acquire the WFDX license without having to assume the lease obligation that NBI currently bears, it *might* make sense for them to purchase the WFDX license at, say, a $250,000 price point. Would not at all discount the possibility that the true ...

Re: The End of 107.3 The Wave Cleveland

https://www.whois.com/whois/jeny1073.com Of course anyone can register a domain just to get tongues wagging. Also noted that the call sign WJNE appears to be reserved on the FCC call sign site; that is its not officially assigned to anyone at this point, but unavailable for others to use. Maybe for...

WLNS Audio Distortion

For months now, the studios mics, all of them it appears, have excessive clipping and just sound like crap. No issue with commercials, field reports, promos, etc. Its bad enough that beyond noon news (WLNS is the only one), my news viewing has shifted to WILX. Suprised its been going on so long. Som...

Is 103.9 still intact and not a part of the Q95 WABJ deal?
WLEN 103.9 has never been part of the WABJ cluster; its under separate ownership. The Koehn family has owned it since it signed on in 1965.

What were the two frequencies? I'm guessing 92.1 was one (WCCW's original frequency)
92.1 and 103.1

Dave Schaberg and Jim McCluskey tried to put 280A 103.9 into Big Rapids
WBZX was originally allocated to Harrison and moved into Big Rapids. The incumbent Big Rapids broadcaster did everything they could to prevent WBZX from getting licensed.

Re: 101.9 wldr

Usually, an equivalent Class channel is required for substitution. 244A was substituted for 278C. Dave Schaberg and Jim McCluskey tried to put 280A 103.9 into Big Rapids back around 1980, but then WTCM-FM moved South to serve Cadillac better, and 272A 102.3 was substituted for 280A 103.9, and WAAQ ...

Re: 101.9 wldr

A few weeks ago, while browsing the FCC history cards online, WTCM-FM was originally planned to be on 101.9 before it changed its CP to 103.5. I wonder if the 103.5 frequency was originally allocated to Manistee or Ludington at that time (early to mid 1960s; I found it odd that neither Manistee nor...

Re: 101.9 wldr

Running carrier without audio is still illegal in the eyes of the FCC; so the potential for additional fines exists as long as the transmitters are on the air without programming and legal IDs. At the very least, its money down the drain. The power bill for 25kw TPO can run up to a couple grand a m...

Re: 101.9 wldr

WLDR's tower was foreclosed and sold a few years ago. It was held by the county land bank. I honestly don't know many business owners who use radio to advertise. In Colorado, the climate has never been good. Very few local stations offer the ability to reach people under 50 years old. Revenues refl...

Re: 101.9 wldr

It would be far better if the stations were sold rather than cancelling licenses. Cancellation would result in the frequencies remaining silent for years, with all the appeals and challenges that could occur. Certainly. I can't imagine Henderson turning his licenses. But I can imagine selling to wh...

Re: 101.9 wldr

Blarney Stone was the best thing to happen to WLDR in recent memory, perhaps since Roy bought it. That said, without knowing the actual claims either party has on each other, anyone doing an LMA with an operator with the track record Roy has is living dangerously. Wonder if the WQAN FCC bust from a ...

Re: The untold story of TV-43

Because I have no life, spent some time going through applications and such both through old copies of Broadcasting Magazine and the FCC website and came up with this timeline of TV-43 from inception to 2005: 1980s: There were 4 original applicants for the channel, 2 were tossed from the comparative...
