Should the town be renamed "Burningham"?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 7:08 amI understand there was a house fire on Lincoln about one block to the east; that fire pales in comparison to this one.
The black smoke cloud that crossed over Woodward into sections of downtown Birmingham was quite remarkable.

Re: Is WMNT 48 still on?
Interesting thought just came by...
Is their any mechanism by which a TV station could petition to change their virtual channel?
It would make sense that both cable viewers and OTA viewers could use 58.

Re: Is WMNT 48 still on?
I'm not seeing WMNT-CD right now. However, I've been having trouble with my antenna. The antenna will be at whatever direction the wind is blowing to . Right now (7:37 PM EDT) It's aimed West - which revealed a new oddity: Both 40.1 and 40.2 show only "DTV" as their channel name, rather than WLMB-1...

Re: Lahser Road
You do realize that the spelling changes and always has... I think 8 mile is the line (Wayne/Oakland), but I could be wrong. Spelling of a proper place name doesn't change. Lahser is always Lahser, in spelling and pronunciation. During a long-ago MDOT refurb of I-696 there was a "Lasher" sign. Afte...

Re: WJR at 500 kW Transmitter Power with Directional Antenna (1950s proposal)
Damn near a local in Chicago during the day if it wasn't for WGN? Hell, you could pick it up on a clock radio in Cleveland. I'd like to see the same thing for WSM - and really use a 500KW-750KW fireball thrower! After WRMR changed their array from three towers with 10kW to four towers with 50kW, th...

The WWV Song (5-10-15-20-25-30...). Actually, they did operate on 30 MHz (and 35 MHz ) until 1953. When they do their "TOH" ID, I always expect them to break into this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEh4clWpFNQ&feature=emb_logo I know they dropped the 25MHz transmitter for a while, but now i...

I'm up in Detroit as I type this.
A few years back, they moved to RF 36, and expanded their signal considerably.
When I get back from work, I'll check for an update.

Re: WFME New York Going Silent
Wow, one of the original 50,000 watt powerhouse AM stations in NYC. Despite being on 1560, they were always easy to pick up at night here in Michigan. Not a bad financial windfall, selling the land for $50M about seven years after spending $13M to buy the station. Seems like investing in new physic...

Re: 4 Country Stations in Detroit-Windsor
AFAIK, neither WSDS nor WDTW (AM) is subscribing to Nielsen.
I'd be curious to know how many listening hours have shifted from WSDS to WDTW.

Re: Yet Another Jeopardy Post
Yesterday WDIV bumped jeopardy For the State Of The City Address. However it was broadcasted at 3:30, between an infomercial and NBC's Early News. Channel 4 used to simply skip the episode every time something like this happen, but since Alec Trebek died Jeopardy has got more attention. I remember ...

Re: Bell makes a post-Boxing Day "Move"
Bell's acting more corporate every day, by getting rid of heritage branding. Pretty soon, all their stations will have the same branding for each format. ...as well as the same playlist and same talent, just like their American BFF, iHeart. About Iheart: is it American-owned, including its stations...
