Re: More layoffs at 9&10 News

No way that’s even going to happen. Sinclair doesn’t care about their TC market, let alone buying another station in the same market. Look at how much they have drained from what 7/4 used to be. If Sinclair actually cared, they could takeover the market. Starts with having a noon and 4pm newscast. ...

The Amphersand is down to two reporters ... which isn't half as bad as WWMT .... who has none left. ALL anchors.
Who are the 2 reporters at 7&4? All I see are two "multimedia journalists" after anchors/weather/sports.

Reminds me a bit of the staff roster just before Raycom bought the station.

Re: Broadcasting burnout

It's a combination of burnout, greed, and agenda. While I was a kid in the 90s, from what I have gathered from watching various news casts on YouTube, it seems the 90s was the "Golden Age" for news and tech. Then the 2000s came and it all started to go downhill. The greed became more as large compan...

It is audience engagement.
Exactly. Many stations do this. 7&4 started doing it over 20 years ago on the morning show. I think 9&10 has been doing it longer than that.

WNEM Super Bowl message

During the break last night I saw a "thank you" message for WNEM 70 years. Will there be some anniversary special?

Re: 9&10 is such a mess right now

I think after a while when a business holds a dominance for a period of time, they start to ride on that "name" and then slack off on production. In the case of a small market with only two channels competing against each other for ratings, it won't make much of a difference. But I agree, it's quite...

Re: 9&10 is such a mess right now

Only two reporters? And how many newscasts? Must be one hell of a lot of work for two people to contribute so the same stories aren't told over and over... It seems many companies that are adding newscasts don't do the homework before hand with regard to staff. Money dwindles, so keep the newscasts,...

Re: FCC Ownership Rules

*if* the FCC were to go after companies and shell companies, I think the markets such as Alpena with only one commercial station would be exempt.

I agree with MasterB: the FCC is a joke.

It was nice to see someone so experienced and polished on the air, something you don't get a lot of in such a small market. Always enjoyed his forecasts, at least when he said it would be 75 and sunny.
Agreed. Except the 75 and sunny forecasts... Too hot 😂

Whoa. I didn't expect to hear that. Thought it would be a "last week" type of announcement.

Yes, congratulations and happy retirement!
