Re: I now know your pain...

I remember back in the late 90s, early 2000s, they always had a black screen showing "no signal". This went on for hours. Channel 48 was supposed to be our local UPN affiliate. However, UPN on half of the days was missing. Then around that point the FCC forced the owners to sell to Cornerstone Chur...

Re: CHBX-TV 2 SSM

As far as I know, it is, and it's still in analog, though CTV has plans to close down its repeater to the north, in Wawa.

Re: America's Rural Radio Stations Are Vanishing

The use of terminology had rankled a few of my broadcasting friends. "5000 volts" (instead of watts)? The "dungeon"? "Kill zone"?

1190 WLIB is 10 kW Day, 30 kW Night
I had WLIB 1190, as 50 KW daytime power :D
Back in the days of the Air America fiasco, WLIB only got as powerful after its owners bought and downgraded Fort Wayne's WOWO.

Re: Dave & Upchuck gain new affiliate in Tampa

98.7 The Shark may go down as one of the top five worst format changes in the country for 2019. For the second straight Nielsen survey, the station registered a pathetic 1.6 share. This is "No Rules Rock" all over again. The AC format (B98.7) produced three respectable surveys in a row - the statio...

So will we be seeing live police shows like "Cops" or mostly scripted judge shows?
It's supposed to be like the old Court TV, which would feature live court cases and analysis:

Re: CKCO-3 Channel 42 Off the Air?

Should CKCO-3 flip to UHF 30 for its digital signal with virtual channel 42.1? From an ethical perspective, CKCO-3 should convert to DTV, but they won't. They're owned by Bell Media, the owner of Canada's cable and satellite TV providers. With OTA television out of the way (except in areas with US ...

It doesn't make any mention of OTA.
This is highly surprising, especially since, IIRC, the Monroe Evening News does list OTA channels in their daily edition listings.
Why wouldn't the Evening News list OTA stations in its TV magazine? Even TV Guide these days has national network listings.

Re: Old cable lineups

Yet another vintage United Cable Television Downriver lineup: I found four of this in a VCR box I bought at a yard sale in Wyandotte. United Cable Television Gibraltar/Lincoln Park/Riverview/Trenton/Woodhaven, circa 1989-1990 47 - The Nostalgia Channel (very little known about this channel) It was ...

Did anyone happen to get footage of 5's kids telethon? They're tinkering with the towers, so I wasn't able to see it.
Fine time to do transmitter maintenance -- during a telethon.

That being said, telethons died after Jerry Lewis was fired from his MDA telethon in 2010.

If you don't like the topic of the story, then just don't watch the newscast.
Or in my case, don't watch TV news at all. All my news the last few years came from the paper.

Re: CKCO-3 Channel 42 Off the Air?

I would imagine CFPL and CHWI flipping from CTV2 to the main CTV network, but then, their broadcasting plans were always too nearsighted. Even the CRTC is still hemming and hawing on the use of subchannels. As for CJOH's Deseronto transmitter, no big loss, as the region already gets CTV programming ...

Re: WBKB Footage Unearthed... At Last!

I think that is the reason why they took the WBKB-TV call letters. It was to be a smallest market version of an ABC O & O. Then the edges of the market and the cable had an actual ABC O & O, WJRT-TV, which would have wanted to be WJR-TV, had the since modified call letter rules had allowed it in th...
