Joel Hill leaving WCSG after over 30 years...

One of the best and most stable folks in the area is leaving GR after 30+ years:

Re: Is WWMT's top of hour ID in legally correct form?

MW, Been retired from show biz for 7 years, so I had to go online to dig this out: FCC Rules 73.1201 (b) (2) A station may include in its official station identification the name of any additional community or communities, but the community to which the station is licensed must be named first. Now ...

Mr. Henderson

Mr. Henderson filed a comment or two with regard to the FCC's "Delete-delete" 25-133.

Re: WOOD Severe Weather Coverage OnLine

Quick question for those who said that WOOD-TV kept letting their EAS over-ride their own program. Where you watching on cable? If so, the cable company is over-riding WOOD-TV8, and they have no control over that. The cable feed would explain all the over-rides.

Re: Some surprises in August Nielsen #s

MW, the losses on top don't add up. Where did they go? Not too many stations who don't subscribe to attribute those losses to. Could be a fluke of a book.

Adding stations 1 to 23 comes up with 72.8 shares for July, and 67.8 points for August. Lost some 5.0 points amongst 23 stations.

Re: Kevin Richards out at IHeartless

Saw Kevin at lunch today's with quite a few others. He has been doing traffic for 41 years, starting at WCUZ. Stellar talent. And he held off a full assault from metro traffic. Where are they? And his descriptive terms: "Ditch Party", etc. He helped thousands of people, and more importantly, he had ...

Re: February Ratings for G.R.

A few thoughts from an old guy, somewhat biased: I saw the change and the upswing of CCM (WCSG's format) ten-fifteen years ago. Forty, sixty years ago people were into the top 40. Then modern country came along, and it became the "Top 40" station. And CCM in most markets is now taking that top 40 ...

Re: the old WJPW-AM 810

For the record, Cornerstone moved the signal to 89.7. I paid a very good RF consultant to find a frequency to move WTHS, Hope College to, so we could increase power/coverage of the WAYG 89.9 signal. Not a chance. The consultant sent me all the data, there is no frequency in the NCE band to move WTHS ...

Re: FM BC Band Animal Tracking Transmitters

Someone somewhere may have used the BCB FM frequencies, but for the last 30 years, there are dozens of 160-170 MHz freqs that are used. And the signals only transmit for 10 ms every 5 or 10 minutes for birds, much more often for really large and dangerous animals.

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike

This is the Muskegon transmitter site, 106.9, now WOOD-FM. I worked for them on a contract basis for a few years , some 20+ years ago. This is a broadcast engineers 2nd worse nightmare. Only thing worse is getting called that the station is off the air, and you drive to the site, to find the tower ...
