Re: 910 WFDF
Recalling Flint AM Stations The tall tower of the three seems to have an FMBC antenna on top now. Pretty sure it's been there a while... I Get up that way now and then and can still see the tall and two short towers. OK.... I now recall the towers right at Dort hiway were WFNT 1470 and the three to...

Another antenna question
I have been considering running more coax to get my AM/FM 36 " auto antenna away from the house and noise on AM. Currently it uses the incorperated high Z (maybe 90+ Ohms) Shieded fine wire coax and a 12 ft extension coax made for the auto radio design.. I was thinking of using some Cable TV grade R...

Re: CKSY completely wiping out Royal Oak Twp translator at 94.3
I’m spending the weekend at the family cottage outside of Lexington. The WBTI stick is less than 2 miles from me, so it usually booms in. But last night, it was struggling and fading in and out. Something was making its way in but I couldn’t identify it. This morning I did a bandscan on my Eton Min...

Re: Televes Hi-VHF Yagi
CKLW-TV had a much better signal from the Riverside Dr. tower. Too bad they couldn't have just put a tower or building up there somewhat taller than the Ren Cen. But moving was also part of a Canadian government restriction of Canadian stations appealing to a US audience and advertisers that began ...

Re: Hammarlund HQ 140
That was a great, old "Boat Anchor " of a radio. I have had my share of old receivers donated or sold to me cheap as I was growing into the radio hobby. I have had Hallicrafters, heathkit, hammarlund, RME, WW2 surplus of unknown manufacturer, and so on. Sometimes a beat up, rusty, dubious looking ra...

AM directional arrays
I saw an interesting discussion of phased vertical antennas. On QRZ.Com/ sub Antennas towers etc.
Lot of the engineering hams jumped in with modeling software graphics.
Reminds me of my study of AMBC tower arrays in my youth !

Re: FM DX e-skip 5/31/23
I lived in Livonia from 1949 to 1963, In about 1961 I got a three tube Granco FM tuner and connected a twinlead dipole that I tacked to my bedroom wall. Heard and sent reception reports to distant stations all over the map. Got some QSL cards and letters frm ON, W.MI, OH, IN , IL etc. This was long ...

Re: FM Transmitter Range
Who mentioned hiding tha box and antenna in a tree on state land. ? This 1000 W transmitter will need a 20A #12 Romex power wire going to it , assuming about 2 kW of 120 VAC power to generate 1 Kw of RF output.power .
I sure would leave a $1000+ of gear behind ANYWHERE!
